Nov 6 – The focus of this week’s prayer letter are prayers developed from the Psalms.
Using Scripture as a base to pray is very helpful. Psalm 32:6-7, NKJV, ‘For this cause everyone who is godly shall pray to You in a time when You may be found; Surely in a flood of great waters they shall not come near him. You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance.’
Thank You, Father, that You can be found in times of distress. I proclaim my trust in Christ as a safe, secure Guardian, and put my life in Your hands, Lord Jesus.
I pray for the release of Your steadfast love hesed into the lives of…[please pray for Christ’s love to be released in someone’s life, or as the Spirit leads you]. Amen
Nov 7 – Psalm 37:5, NKJV, ‘Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.’ ‘Roll your way on the Lord.’
Father, forgive me for often failing to truly commit my day unto You – not rolling all my cares to You. I often wait until my daily burdens become too heavy for me to carry, no longer able to handle them or cope with the way they make me feel.
I commit myself to roll these cares unto You each and every day. I proclaim that You will take care of me, and will keep that which I commit to You.
Through the Cross of Jesus those burdens and weights that so easily wear me out will be removed, and I set free from them. I declare my total confidence in Your ability to deal with that which I commit to You. I commit to leave these people, issues and things with You – and will not keep going back to pick them up again. In Jesus’ name. Amen
Nov 8 – Psalm 62:1-2, 5-8, 11-12, NKJV, ‘Truly my soul silently waits for God; from Him comes my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.
5-8, My soul, wait silently for God alone, for my expectation is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defence; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory; the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.
‘God has spoken once, twice I have heard this: that power belongs to God. Also to You, O Lord, belongs mercy.’
Father, I trust in Your beloved Son. I pour out my heart to You and thank You for the grace and mercy You bestow on me.
Silently waiting on You is not passive waiting in doubt, fear nor uncertainty, it is actively listening and preparing ourselves for God’s timing and intervention.
Teach us how to pour out our hearts to You in faith and righteously.
You are our powerful and merciful God. We pray for Your power to be made perfect in the lives of those we know who are weak or in a place of illness. In Jesus’ name. Amen
Nov 9 – Psalm 91:1-2, NKJV, ‘He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. [An old Arabic translation says, ‘will always be in touch with the Almightiness of God’] I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him I will trust.”’
Father, what a wonderful place to dwell in – the secret place of Your presence. It is a place of wonder and yet a terrible place, where I encounter Your Almightiness. You are so much greater and more mighty than I ever imagined.
As I encounter You in this special place, in prayer, I pray for spiritual growth and maturity. I pray that I will more accurately reflect Your nature. That many more in our church, in person and online, will also be able to enter and dwell in this place where Your holy presence changes us to be conformed to Christ and His will. Amen
Nov 10 – Psalm 118:13-18, NKJV, ‘You [Satan] pushed me violently, that I might fall, but the Lord helped me. The Lord is my strength and song, and He has become my salvation.
The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tents of the righteous; the right hand of the Lord does valiantly. The right hand of the Lord is exalted; the right hand of the Lord does valiantly. I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.
The Lord has chastened me severely, but He has not given me over to death.’
Father, thank You that even when Satan has sought to overthrow me – Your grace and protection have been there.
I recognise my absolute dependence on Christ. I choose to submit afresh to Him while resisting Satan. As I submit, train me in spiritual warfare so that I can be more effective in this battle with darkness as a soldier of Christ dressed fully in the armour of light.
Your discipline is good for my soul, Your pruning preparing me for greater fruitfulness. I choose to submit to Your discipline in my life. Teach and train me so I am the person You call me to be in Christ. Amen
Nov 11 – Psalm 139:23-24, NKJV, ‘Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my anxieties; and see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.’
Father, even in the seasons of discipline when You have refined me and brought some of the rubbish to the surface in my life – it hasn’t been to shame me, but to cleanse and renew me in Christ.
At times I felt I could not survive the discipline, but I now know that Your hand was in it and you were preparing me for the way everlasting.
I pray for others going through such discipline in our church – I pray that they may remain true to You, not give up or become bitter, but will learn to trust more in Your Fatherly oversight and love. You are working for our good and Your glory. In Jesus’ name. Amen
Nov 12 – Psalm 48:1, NKJV, ‘Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised…’
‘God is great in wisdom, great in power, great in His creative works, great in His redemptive acts, and great in His dealings with us’ Derek Prince.
Father, we give You thanks, praise and glory. You are great and we worship You.
We desire to live more astutely for Christ, be more effective as Kingdom ambassadors, more clearly separated from the world’s blueprint for life, more clearly producing righteous fruit, and more filled with Your Spirit.
As Your Spirit fills our lives – we are personally enriched and enabled to be all You call us to be by His power, anointing and authority. Fill me anew with Your Spirit. In Jesus’ name and for His glory. Amen
