This week’s prayers are written by Steve Higgins, and are focussed on God’s Provision:
2 May – Father God, we thank You that You are Jehovah Jireh, the God who provides. We thank You that everything belongs to You, and You hold everything in Your hands.
You know our every need, even before we ask. When we approach Your throne, You know our every concern, and have a plan for our lives. You have all the provision needed for us to step into that plan enabling us to fulfil all that You have called us to do in Jesus.
You can move mountains to make a way for all who seek to follow Your calling on our lives as disciples of Christ. We believe that You answer our prayers in Your timing and according to Your purposes. Teach us about the importance of waiting on You.
Forgive us for doubting You, for worrying; for trying to work out everything on our own. Teach us how to trust Jesus more; help us when our faith struggles to stand on Your word. You are able to accomplish far more, to do far greater than we ever thought possible.
We give thanks that You are the miraculous God. We give You praise that You are able to guide us along a pathway that You have set before us, providing all that we could ever need bringing glory to Jesus’ name. We choose to trust You this day and every day for all our needs. Help us to be content in all circumstances leaning on Jesus our provider. Amen.
3 May – Dear Lord Jesus, we thank You that You are the good Shepherd, and that You lead us beside still waters. Thank You that You are able to restore the soul, and that in You we lack no good thing.
Forgive us for the times when our faith in Your gracious provision wears thin, causing us to give greater thought for our own needs instead of casting all our cares on Your shoulders.
Thank You that when our faith is shaken You still remain faithful to us. You are a good and gracious God who is always able to meet us in our hour of need, providing all our necessities according to the riches of Your grace.
Help us to always look to You when there are seeds of doubt that seem to flood into our minds; distracting us from looking to You, Lord Jesus, our helper and redeemer. Thank You that He is the one who intercedes on our behalf so we can stand on the firm foundation, whatever our need might be. Amen
4 May – Lord Jesus, we praise Your holy name that You are both our provider and our provision. You give us all that we need for both physical and spiritual needs – for You are our Creator – Christ our light and life, health and wholeness. Jesus, You are the way the truth and the light in the darkness.
Father, You have provided all that is needed for holiness and righteousness in Jesus, and that in Him we have all we need to live godly lives. Help us to keep looking to Jesus to sustain us in times of need, and remain in His loving embrace.
Lord Jesus, thank You that You long to give good gifts to those who follow You, so we ask for Your favour as we choose to serve You in our daily living bringing glory to Your name. Amen
5 May – Heavenly Father, You have called us to be good stewards of what You have given us. Help us to be generous to those who are in greater need than ourselves. Your word tells us that it is better to give than receive; therefore, let us be generous in our giving to others that they might be blessed and see in us Your generosity and kindness and be drawn to Jesus who is the great provider.
We give thanks to You, Lord Jesus, that You know all our needs and are more than able to make all grace abound towards those who love You so that we have all sufficiency in all things for every good work. Amen
6 May – Lord Jesus, we give thanks to You for Your grace richly available to be poured into our lives day by day – if we will ask You for it. When we ask, You faithfully provide all that we need for this day.
Your good purpose is that when we put You first by giving financially and in every way to You, You supply us with spiritual and temporal blessings. Anyone struggling to prove You in giving to You of their treasure, time and talents – grant them the revelation that obeying Your word is the pathway to an abundant life.
We pray for those who are experiencing financial hardship at this time due to the cost of living. We also think of those who are living with debt that continues to mount up due to living costs rising week by week, or through unwise choices or habits. Deliver, redeem and renew leading them into a new place of hope and provision.
Lord, it is a great comfort to know that You know everything about us, and know where our greatest needs are. You faithfully set in motion the answers to our prayers even when sometimes there is a delay – Your presence and word are always there to help us through the time of waiting.
We thank You, Lord, that You use difficulties and delays to perfect and develop our trust in You, and our obedience to Your word and ways. We very often don’t understand Your ways of working in our lives, and You very often do the unexpected and work in mysterious ways.
When we do that which You tell us to do – help us to be patient in our hours of need as we look to You for Your provision and blessing. We give thanks in all circumstances bringing glory to Your name. Amen
7 May – Lord Jesus, teach us Your ways about committing our way and our lives to You day by day. Help us to seek first Your kingdom and Your will for our lives so that we may look to You – the giver and provider for our daily living.
Help us to be thankful in all circumstances, and content with what we have. We give thanks for the blessings You pour into our lives – the One who intercedes on our behalf, our strength and refuge in troubled times.
We pray for all those who are suffering from the consequences of War, especially in Ukraine. We pray for the hungry and the lost, we think of those who have lost their homes and earthly possessions. Comfort those who have lost hope and live in fear for their lives.
Deliver Ukraine from its enemies, and grant it victory in this war leading to a just peace, the complete removal of foreign occupiers from its land, establish the nation within in its original 1991 borders, and a free, independent, self-governing Ukraine. Save Ukraine and may Your Kingdom come in that land and among the Ukrainian people.
Father, meet them in their time of need, draw them to Jesus, and give them a new hope bringing them into salvation in Him. Help us as a Church to comfort and support those in need. May we be generous of heart to those who are in need in our community, that You would be glorified in all that we do. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
8 May – Father God, You know everything about us, our strengths and weaknesses; our spiritual and physical needs. We pray for Your favour over those who are suffering physically or spiritually, and we also think of those who are suffering any kind of pain or loss; may they all know Your comfort and peace, in Jesus, in their lives.
We bring before You those who are in a season of trial and tribulation – help them to stand firm on Your word and its promises that Jesus will never leave us nor forsake us. You are Almighty God, a very present help in trouble.
We call upon You in Jesus’ name – transform lives with the full restoration available in and through Jesus Christ, the Author, Saviour and Protector of our lives.
Father, in Jesus, You give hope and light in the darkness, to light up a pathway to heaven; help us to stand on Your word always keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus to guide, develop us into mature disciples, and to meet our every need in Your service.
We pray that You would enable us to live this life with contentment knowing that You have prepared a place for us, and through Your Holy Spirit, walk with us every day of our lives. We give You thanks and praise in Jesus’ name. Amen.
