July 25 – The focus of this week’s prayer letter is again on Kingdom Building, particularly on building from the strength of Jesus’ victory. The prayers are written by Pastor Leslie.
Lord Jesus, in Luke 10:18, You said, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.’ Lord, You are magnificent – You won a decisive and complete victory over the enemy of our souls on Calvary.
Although I know that Satan can still tempt and trouble me – thank You that, because of Your victory on Calvary, he does not have the power to overcome me, if I abide in You. Grant me the fullness of Your Spirit, the grace and anointing needed to continually abide in You.
Abiding is not passive, it is active – it is trusting, resting, obeying, following, giving, serving, ministering and worshipping You. At the heart of Your call to us is to deny ourselves, take up our cross daily, and follow You.
In You I can overcome Satan by trusting in the victory of Your perfect life, death, resurrection and ascension. By faith, I draw upon the full benefits of Your Atonement, and seek to step out in Your victory over Satan, sin, self and the world.
I come boldly to ask that Your Kingdom rule will reign in me, our church in person and online, our town and county, and in our nation. Amen
Jul 26 – We read in Romans 8:1‑4, NKJV, ‘Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life has set me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. and so he condemned sin in sinful man, in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit.’
Father, I declare these words out loud: the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus sets me free from the biggest and most powerful enemies of my soul: Satan, sin, self and the world. In Christ Jesus, there is no condemnation – I pray that many will come to live in the full expression of this great Scriptural truth.
In Christ, there is victory. I pray that the power and authority of these verses will be rooted in my life enabling me to apply them, in faith, each and every day. Thank You that if I live according to Your Spirit, these words have power to transform my whole walk with Christ. I pray that this truth will be stablished in many people’s lives through the people and ministries of our church.
I pray that this will take place – cleanse and sanctify me. Thank You that Your will is our sanctification – that we will be set apart for Your service and purposes. Sanctify many through the ministries of Your word, Your Spirit, our fellowship with each other, and as we continue to pursue You even through the trials of this life.
Lord, breakthrough in the lives of those who are stuck, or are not yet living in the full reality of what these verses teach. These verses point to a spiritual strength and vitality that few are living in. Pour out Your Spirit, and lead many into the full reality of this spiritual power through the people and ministries of Telford Elim, in person and online. In Jesus’ name. Amen
Jul 27 – Father, we all still experience temptation, and temptation’s power to deceive and entrap will always be with us – with no promise that the temptations will become less tempting to us (John Blanchard, Truth for Life, 20, ‘Although God has taken us out of Satan’s ownership, He has not yet removed us from his sphere of operation and, although we may be making steady progress in both knowledge and grace, temptation will remain with us until our dying day, with no promise whatever that its power will be lessened’).
As we think of the power of temptation, and its ability to lead us into sin, we give thanks and praise that by Your Spirit and Word, You have given us the resources, which are ours through Christ’s victory, to allow us to live in victory over Satan, sin, self and the world.
As we live in the fullness of this this higher Christian life with the Spirit and word as our guiding lights, us being obedient and attentive to their guidance, teaching and counsel – as we walk in obedience to Your word and Spirit – may this start to really impact those in the sphere of my influence in my family, school, college, marketplace, community and workplace.
You call me to be a spiritually mature Kingdom Builder. As I commit my way to You, trust also in Christ, You will raise me up, and our church, to be highly effective Kingdom Builders.
Lord, we pray for our church to be full of people producing good, Christ-honouring fruit, many souls being saved, and many people sanctified, worshipping, serving and giving to Christ. In His name and for His glory. Amen
Jul 28 – Lord Jesus, You are the great ‘I AM’ the only begotten Son of God – I believe this to be true. You also said, John 4:34, ‘My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to finish His work.’ You were focussed on fulfilling Your Father’s purposes, You were completely consumed by:
i. Your Mission – to be the Spirit-endowed Suffering Messiah who is the only way to the Father.
ii. Your pre-ordained Mandate – the prophetic parameters laid down in the Holy Scriptures for Your life and its purpose which You perfectly fulfilled in every way.
iii. Your Methodology – the establishment of a core group of believers who, for three years, You invested love, time, teaching, on the job training, principles around biblical stewardship and giving, and setting to them the ultimate example of true godliness and holiness.
Lord, through these Disciples, Your Kingdom was established, and began to expand and grow. I know that as I walk in the Spirit, my focus will change from
self to You,
from me deciding and controlling my choices to me being consumed by doing Your will!
I pray for each one of us in church, in person and online, to be Spirit-filled and heaven anointed so that we may indeed walk in step with Your Spirit, and be Kingdom builders in our day and generation. Amen
Jul 29 – Father, the enemies that Christ overcame were many, especially sin and death – death’s sting being sin, and sin’s power being the law. 1 Corinthians 15:55‑57, ‘“Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.’
Sin is what separates humankind from You. It brought spiritual death to all humanity through Adam and Eve’s sin, means a life separate from You, and ultimately always results in death. Thank You Lord Jesus that this is not the final conclusion. You came to change the narrative and open a new door to spiritual life, and a personal relationship with God.
Through Your perfect life, Your victorious cross, and Your glorious ascension – You have overcome Satan, sin, self, the world and death.
Lord Jesus, You openly triumphed victoriously over these powers ushering in Your Kingdom with its salvation, fruitfulness, true life, righteousness, cross-centred discipleship, and a new, agape-love motivated way of building society.
May Your victory be continually outworked in my life, and in our church. We would to walk in the Spirit and in Your light, obedient to Your word, in fellowship with each other, and facing trials when they come full of faith, hope and Your love.
May this higher life overflow from Telford Elim to Telford, Shropshire, and our nation. Save, heal and deliver, Lord! To You be all the glory. Amen
Jul 30 – Father, we will have trouble in this world, but Your Son has overcome the world.
As I live out my Christian faith denying self, taking up my cross daily, and obediently following the Lord Jesus, I know I can then take heart in His love and commitment to me, and to each one of us. In fact, in John 16:33, we are commanded to take heart, be courageous because, Lord Jesus, You have overcome the world.
Lord Jesus, You have overcome the great enemies of Satan, sin, self and death. As a result, I can now live in Your victory because of my faith. I can, day by day, overcome sin a little more by living and walking in the Spirit obedient to Your word.
Through the Holy Spirit, I can also overcome poverty of spirit because I choose to bring all things to You in prayer connecting with the riches of Your grace and love.
Father, in Your Son’s glorious name, I lay before You my desire for our church to be a Kingdom Building church which creates many new, mature disciples who make disciple themselves (John 16:24); I pray that it will be so. In Jesus’ name. Amen
Jul 31 – Father, Satan tempts and torments us with his lies and deception. He adds the bait to the hook of our own sinful inclinations which then makes them appear so alluring and necessary for our lives at that moment. We confess our weakness, and turn to You seeking to walking in the light each and every day.
It is Satan who seeks to rob us of our peace and joy, seeks to kill our fruitfulness and spirituality by encouraging us to pursue everything except a life dedicated to Christ, to destroy my testimony in front of others by making me appear to be a hypocrite because of immature, worldly, character weaknesses.
Forgive me when I yield to his temptations, or allow his darkness to take root in my life. Lord Jesus, this is the victory that overcomes, even our faith. I believe that You can set me free from Satan’s power, sin’s deceitfulness, self’s pride, vanity and sensuality, and the world’s relentless drive for independence from Father.
I confess, in the past, there are things that have enslaved and bound me – those carnal things such as bitterness, resentment, jealousy, pride, lust and selfishness. I ask for forgiveness, cleansing through Your blood, and to be set apart for Your worship and service.
I commit myself to partner with Your Spirit and word stepping into this wonderful overcoming life that You have prepared for me, and each one of us in our church in person and online; but also, I acknowledge my personal responsibility – I have to obey You, walk in step with Your Spirit, and follow Your Word. Empower me to do so, Lord. Amen
