This week’s prayers are about a full godly life in Christ.
Apr 8 – Father, Your beloved Son set a wonderful example for us to follow. He lived a full godly life which was so rich in love, peace and righteousness, and enriching for those who followed Him. We pray for that life in each of us in Telford Elim, in person and online.
Jesus also brought children to the fore when others wished to side line them, and prayed for them to live this full, godly life.
As we think about this today in our generation, it is remarkable to consider the way that some children can be loved but not taught about the life of faith in Jesus.
Many parents do not think that teaching their kids about Your love for them is as important as ensuring they have a good education, get to experience many activities, own the latest gadgets, or possess and wear top brand named items.
Heal parenting in this land, and develop true, effective principles for godly parenting in the Church, and among Christians, so that children are spiritually well adjusted, well educated, good citizens, understand about Your Kingdom, and are passionate for Christ able to live a godly life. In Jesus’ name. Amen
Apr 9 – Father, You call us to teach children and young people about Your ways for life, and Faith in Christ. Forgive us when we fail in this task. Empower us to be good parents and grandparents who do so, good role models for Jesus.
Thank You for our Kids Extravaganza ministry led by Helen Lambie, and our Limitless ministry led by Pastor Alisha supported by Pastor Samuel. We pray for all involved in both ministries, and for all our children and young people, for Your grace and blessing in their lives.
A parent’s example, and attitude to life, speaks more loudly than words – if lifestyle and attitude to life do not match up to words – then this can be discerned by children, and is false. It teaches children that adults say one thing and practice another.
Forgive us when our actions have not lived up to our words. Forgive us also when we have sought to buy our kids the best things the world can offer without qualifying that by our own willingness to teach them, by example, that such things do not bring true meaning nor fullness of life.
Anoint our church ministries, and every parent and grandparent in our church, to teach our children and young people about Christ, discipleship and the life of faith by our words, example and attitude seeking to be Christ-honouring in all we do. In Jesus’ name and for His glory. Amen
Apr 10 – Father, thank You for the good things that we love doing, are passionate about. Life is not just to be lived in the shadows of greyness and doubt, but in the light of Christ.
May we all live…
in the full sunshine of Your Creation and its wonder,
in the simplicity and complexity of faith in Christ,
in walking in, led by and being filled by the Holy Spirit,
in enjoying the good things this world gives, but not putting our confidence in them nor basing our joy on them,
in being focussed more on the best, which is the Higher Life in Christ, than on the good which so often is based on a worldly value system which is anti-Christ in nature,
in being ambassadors and witnesses to Your Kingdom and its righteousness.
Thank You for the wonder of life. Teach us how to enjoy our lives without ending up in the world’s idolatry of placing nature and enjoying life above worship and the service of Your beloved Son.
May we worship and serve the Lord Jesus truly without worshipping and adoring this world and its gods and idols. In Jesus’ name. Amen
Apr 11 – Father, worship and singing are such an important part of life for many. In fact, Heaven resounds to the sound of singing and worship.
You are actively seeking for those who will worship You in Spirit and truth. We pray for Telford Elim Worship, our church worship group. May each one who is a part of it be greatly blessed, possess worshipful hearts, and live lives filled with Your Holy Spirit.
At the heart of worship is reverence and adoration for You, Your Son, and His finished work on the Cross. Grant us a new revelation of His exalted place – at the right hand of Your throne in Heaven.
May this revelation enhance our commitment to worship Him, and to seek to be filled by Your Spirit so that we can worship with Psalms, Hymns and Spiritual songs making godly melody in our hearts. In Jesus’ name. Amen
Apr 12 – Father, it is a good thing to encourage others. It costs relatively little to speak well to, and proclaim blessings into the lives of others – perhaps, except the death of one’s ego and self-gratification.
It is often easier to say nothing, or even to say something negative, than to engage with others and search for good character qualities or talents/gifting in their lives which we then can encourage them in.
May we never be false in our encouragement of others. Grant us an attitude which actively seeks to encourage and build up our brothers and sisters in Christ. Teach us how to encourage and how to edify one another.
Guide us in Your truth, in Your Ways and Will so that we do not unwittingly encourage another in a lifestyle which You want to sanctify and transform into a godlier one. Give us ears to hear, hearts that are responsive, and minds that are sensitive to the guidance and wisdom of Your Spirit and word. In Jesus’ name. Amen
Apr 13 – Father, above all else, You love us so wonderfully in Christ. That love is not only life changing, but also life renewing.
Even in the darkest and most difficult days when everything tells us to doubt Your love, we can still stand on the truth that Your love for us in Christ never changes. May we also love as we are loved by You – loving ourselves and others.
May we honour each other as You honour us in Christ. May our lives and witness bring people into Your saving grace and loving embrace in and through Jesus. May they honour You because of us. In Jesus’ name. Amen
Apr 14 – Father, to live in the Holy Spirit’s fullness brings the joy of life to us – what a blessing. Many struggle with joyless lives which rob them off the sap of vitality and the hope that true joy brings.
Your word intimates that at the heart of our joy is Your Holy Spirit sharing Your Joy with us – Your joy is our strength.
Grant us the grace we need in order to live such joy-filled lives. Lord Jesus, You came that we might have life in all its fullness – grant us that life today. In Your name. Amen
