The prayers this week are again those written for our September month of prayer and fasting. We are continuing to give thanks in the first two days, before turning to pray about being a church rooted in Christ led by a God-given vision.
6 September – Rebekah Burke. Lord, we want to give You thanks for all the content that has gone out through the Telford Elim social media channels, and everyone that has contributed towards each post, image and video over this last year.
We prayed last time for someone to come in and help us with the social media graphics, and You answered our prayers; Lord, thank You that you have enabled us to get support. We also thank You God, for the software that we have been able to get to support the creation of the graphics.
We give everything to do with each of our social media platforms to You, Lord Jesus, and ask that You would continue to guide and direct us in the content that we should produce and post. Lord, fill us with ideas, give us the strength so we can share Your gospel through each platform. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen
7 September – Rebekah Burke. Lord God, we start by thanking You for the whole of the Sunday school team – bless and protect each person who is a part of the team. We want to take this time to honour the Sunday school leaders who have gone before and done amazing things for Sunday School and its future.
We thank You for each host who does the Kids Extravaganza each week – that You would protect each one and give them the strength to continue to do Your work. Lord, we commit each child in church and the wider community to You – that they would continue to grow and know Jesus.
As we look to the future of Sunday school, Lord, we ask that You would guide us in the right teaching to use, the right direction to take. We pray that You would continue to provide all the resources that Sunday School will need. We thank You, Lord, for every parent and child at our church, in person and online. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
8 September – In the following prayers, all written by Pastor Leslie – we are revisiting our church vision and mission statements, and the importance of everyone and everything being firmly rooted in Christ, His Spirit and word.
Father, we want to thank You for our Lord Jesus Christ. At the heart of our faith is covenant relationship – the New Covenant ratified by Christ’s blood, and eternal because of the One who upholds it. It is Your word, it is Your promise, it is Your covenant of grace and salvation. Hallelujah!
As we think about being rooted in Christ, of following Him who is wholeheartedly committed to us in this month of prayer and fasting – it is You Lord Jesus that we desire to be lifted high. In our world where there is so much happening, huge events, and seismic changes taking place all around us – we thank You that You are the anchor for our souls.
Lord Jesus, You are the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. We proclaim Your lordship and kingship over Telford Elim, in person and online. We ask that many will come to a saving faith through the ministries and people in Telford Elim. We are looking to You for the privilege of baptising many new believers, and discipling them in the faith. Amen
9 September – ‘Following Jesus inspires us to dream big and attempt the impossible.’ Lord Jesus, no matter how big we dream, and no matter how great the task we attempt – You are bigger, greater and more mighty. Inspire and anoint us to be good disciple-making disciples as we follow You.
We also know that You often do Your biggest and greatest works, including in our lives, in the seemingly small and insignificant. We celebrate the small and insignificant as well the great and wonderful. I yield my heart, mind, relationships and choices – my whole life to You.
As the Church Leadership Team (CLT) seek Your face in prayer and intercessions with fasting, and seek to lead the church in a godly and responsible way, as people in the church join with the CLT praying and fasting during this month – we pray for prophetic insight, clarity about how the church should move forward, and many blessings to flow. Amen
10 September – ‘Developing a Whole Life Centre with a heart for the community where people meet God through Jesus, find life and make friends.’ Father, we have such a strong desire to follow the Lord Jesus in honourable ways – in ways that others will see Jesus among us and want to join our community of faith following Him.
We pray that many will meet You, through Jesus, because of Telford Elim. We long to reach people of all ages, all cultures and backgrounds with the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ – the Good News of the Gospel which reveals Him.
Lord, heal our land. So many people are searching for life, and the meaning of life in all the wrong places. They think if they only become better people, or try new ways to find fulfilment and peace – they will live good and fruitful lives. However, everything they are searching for in the world is only found in Christ. Save many Lord in our nation and beyond through the ministries of Telford Elim, in person and online. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
11 September – John 10:9-10, NLT, ‘I am the gate. Those who come in through Me will be saved. They will come and go freely and will find good pastures. 10The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.’
Father, Your Son loves us and gave His life for us. He came in the way the OT prophets predicted the Messiah would, He is not an imposter. He leads us into the freedom of His word and grace; He does not drive us by the rule of the Law nor by the legalism of religion.
Jesus is our Door – our salvation is in a Person, the Lord Jesus Christ. Our Saviour loves us and will lead us every day giving us true life as He does so. Open our eyes, unblock our ears, and set a fire in our hearts by Your Spirit so that we may share His life with others. In His name. Amen
12 September – Father, we pray that many will find the life of Christ through the ministry of Telford Elim, in person and online. We pray for a church where people will follow Christ in the ordinary things of life.
As we pray for our mission statement to be outworked through our church – we recognise that it will often happen in the Routine of the Ordinary as we worship, serve, fellowship and minister in the power of the Spirit.
We pray for the development of the Christian virtues and graces in and through our lives as our characters and personalities are transformed by the Spirit and word. We pray that we will be a church full of genuine Christians who love Jesus, love each other, and love others. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
