Jan 4 – The daily prayers are taken from the church’s month of Prayer and Fasting booklet – focussed this week on Telford Elim’s Sunday School Ministry:
Parents/Carers/Teachers of the Children – Natalie Headley
Our great, awesome and wonderful Father in heaven – Your will for us is pure and true. Thank You for our Sunday School and all the children who attend, and those who will be attending in the near future. We give You the glory, praise, and honour.
Please Father, bless, guide and protect each of our children – Your Scripture teaches us to “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it” (Proverbs 22:6).
Father, we ask Your Holy Spirit to guide and show us ways in which we can come alongside parents, and help them to be empowered and enabled to carry the responsibility You gave to them to raise their children in Christ. The example of parents living in faith inspires their children – may each parent recognise the value of participating in Sunday School every week and studying Your Word with their children. Lord, help us to walk in step with Your Holy Spirit, to be able to motivate, encourage and help parents to continue to follow Jesus by being good role models in their Christian lives for their children’s sake.
Father, You who have called and equipped the teachers in our community – we pray for them today. Bless them with Your word leading them all to Christ – may they grow in wisdom, knowledge and understanding. Watch over, provide for, guide and sustain them. Bless them with Your peace, in Christ, that surpasses all understanding. May they know Your grace and mercy in complex and difficult times. May You be their sun and shield, so they do the work that You have entrusted to them, and may each one sense Your care in these uncertain times. In Jesus’ Name. Amen
Jan 5 – The Children – Anna Adams
Heavenly Father, we pray for all the children. We lift them up to You, each and every one, to ask for Your provision and protection. We ask that You will set their feet firmly on the path that will lead them to Christ. Guard and guide them at every age and stage, from early years and beyond.
We pray for their relationships, their friendships and the choices they will make. Help us to nurture their curiosity, ideas and dreams by providing a strong biblical foundation into which strong roots can grow. We pray that the children will learn to seek Your Son, love You and go on to discover their own unique talents, strengths and gifts, with which to honour You. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen
Jan 6 – Sunday School Academy – Rebekah Burke
Lord, we thank You for all that took place through Sunday School last year, and as we look to the new year and the introduction of Extravaganza Academy, God, we pray for each child who will watch, take part and connect with Christ. As the children learn, we ask that they would grow in relationship with the Lord Jesus.
We are available to You, God, we ask that You would provide us with the right teaching at the right time, and that we would speak the words You want us to say. We pray for Your hand of protection on each child, and their families, as we meet together once a month in the church building for Sunday School. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen
Jan 7 – Sunday School Online
Father, we ask for a great blessing on the online ministry of Sunday School. May Your favour and anointing be on it, and Your protection and blessing on every one who takes part or enables the ministry to continue. Enable us to navigate through the online world respecting copyright, being honourable in our Social Media posts, and being missional and Kingdom builders in everything we do online.
May You be pleased to grant us much good fruit from this ministry so that many families: parents, children and extended families are saved, discipled and released into Your Kingdom work in the setting You place them, and for His glory. Amen
Jan 8 – Sunday School Team – Felcia Khetia
Heavenly Father, we thank You for each one of our Sunday school team. We thank You for the wonderful gifts You have showered upon the teachers and the children.
Father, fill us with Your Holy Spirit and power so that we may grow and understand Your word more deeply. Lord, we need Your guidance as we meditate on Your word. Help us to sow the seed of your word in the hearts of the children so that they can be fruitful and blessing to all.
Holy Spirit, we need Your anointing on each one of us as we read the Scriptures, mould us so that we can become a testimony to others. Help us to be bold, humble and gentle. We ask these things in the precious name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen.
Jan 9 – Future Growth and Overall Protection of the Sunday School Ministry – Lisa Phillip
Dear heavenly Father, as we draw to the end of these days of prayer for the Sunday School ministry, we pray Lord, for growth of this ministry. Lord, that the children will be so excited to come to the Sunday School Academy; that they share this excitement with their friends and their friends then want to come.
That as the church grows, so will this ministry – not only in the numbers of children and young people but also the team: the teachers, helpers, tech team, and online team – all that are involved.
We pray for overall protection of this ministry that the evil one will not be able to come anywhere near, that You cast Your protection over everything. As it reads in Psalms 91, whoever goes to the Lord for safety, whoever remains under the protection of the Almighty, can say to Him, You are my defender and protector. So Lord, we pray as we come to You – protect this ministry. In Jesus’ precious name, we pray. Amen
Jan 10 – Safeguarding – Charlotte Adjepong
Proverbs 31:8, ‘Speak out on behalf of the voiceless, and for the rights of all who are vulnerable.’ Lord, as it states in Your word – we are called to speak out on behalf of the voiceless, for all children, and people who are vulnerable.
Lord, there is an expectation that there are certain rights we are all entitled to on how we are treated making sure we are not being mistreated by those with power or authority within the environments we are in. Help us to stand and speak out, raise our concerns if we are experiencing such mistreatment, or we are witnessing it. Lord, we are all called to be accountable. Ensure a voice is given to the vulnerable. Your love is revealed all the way through Your word – allow us to show that special love to others through our Lord Jesus Christ, not through fleshy means. In Jesus’ name. Amen
