Daily Prayers 30 August – 5 September

Daily Prayers 30 August – 5 September

The first two prayers this week are written by Pastor Leslie and are linked to Sunday morning’s sermon on the spiritual battle. The prayers for the month of September are those written for our month of prayer and fasting. We are starting by giving thanks and praise to the Lord for who He is, and all He is doing – this is part of our spiritual battle for our church.

30 August – As we think about the spiritual battle – Genesis 3:15 is the place to start. There God declares to Satan, who had just succeeded in tempting Adam and Eve to sin, these words, ‘I will put hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will strike your head, and you will strike His heel.’ The KJV says, ‘I will enmity between you.’

We often think of the devil as the world’s friend; no, he is not. God ensured that would not be the case. Satan hates the world – all the seed of the woman.

The verse is also Messianic in that Christ as the ultimate seed of the woman broke Satan’s authority, which he had gained by Adam succumbing to his temptation, thus striking his head on the cross.

Father, we thank You that You are sovereign in this great cosmic battle between good and evil. We declare Jesus is Lord, and our general in this battle. Fill us with Your Spirit and word so we can have guidance, understanding and power for this battle. In Jesus’ name. Amen

31 August – Creation was beautiful, full of godly order, and had all needed for a wonderful, blessed and fruitful world. The Fall ushered in sin and death into it, and Satan’s authority over sinners in it. Thus, in a sense, mortal life began there with its physical death at the end of it – it also ushered in spiritual death, enmity and the Curse.

Father, we give thanks that Jesus’ sinless life, ministry, suffering, sacrificial death, resurrection and ascension all came together to break Satan’s stranglehold and offer the chance for redemption, salvation and fullness of godly life.

As we pray this incoming month, and fast on certain days throughout it – we pray for the anointing to pray in the Spirit throughout it leading to an open heaven above Telford Elim, and a new season of renewal, salvation and breakthrough in many areas. In Jesus’ name and for His glory. Amen

1 September Days 1-7 are thanksgiving prayers as we begin this month of prayer and fasting.

Pastor Leslie. Father, as we begin this new month – we give You thanks, praise and worship in and through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. You are seeking for those who will worship in Spirit and truth, and we come to do so with the Spirit’s help, standing on Your word.

As we pray together, fast, and seek Your face – we give thanks that You are the only God, Father, Son and Spirit. We thank You that since Telford Elim’s founding many decades ago, there has been a witness to salvation only in Christ and the Pentecostal fullness in Telford.

As we come before You as a church, we are confident of Your presence, guidance and insight as we pray. We want this month to not just be a time of asking, but a time of asking, listening, hearing and receiving – may it be so, Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen

2 September – Adeola Allinson. Heavenly Father, awesome God, Kings of Kings, we thank You and are so grateful – by grace in and through Christ, You have saved us not by our works nor religious devotion so that we cannot boast of our own strength (Eph 2:8-9).

We thank You, Lord, that in Your mercies and goodness You have chosen to save us not because of our good works but because of Your love, kindness and covenant faithfulness which surpasses all understanding.

Jehovah Yasha, the Lord my salvation, You do this to demonstrate and showcase Your infinite grace in Christ. This grace is a blessing that is undeserved and unwarranted; thank You Lord that grace is a gift freely given based on the kind intentions of our Father the Shepherd. As recipient of Your grace, we, the sheep of Your pasture, have no claim to it. Thank You, Abba Father, for this grace in Jesus’ name. Amen

3 September – Adeola Allinson. Father in Heaven, Prince of peace, all sufficient One, we are so thankful to be in the land of the living, we are extremely grateful for all Your provisions in our lives.

Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You are our Joy, the Rock of our salvation, hope, song, delight – the Lord our peace in time of troubles and throughout life. We thank You that Your signs and wonders will follow us, and our loved ones as we live out our faith before them and pray for them seeking to lead them to Jesus, all the days of our lives.

We ascribe all the praise, honour, worship and thanksgiving to Your precious holy name, Lord Jesus. Thank you, Lord, that Your kingdom will be established in our praises as we continually declare Your Almighty love for us; blessed be the Lord God Almighty who was, is, and is to come. In Jesus’ name we worship. Amen

4 September – Isaac Alawode. Lord God, we give You thanks and praise for all You have done through the Tech team over the last 18 months; we honour You as we know that it is only through You that we are able to Livestream effectively to reach those watching remotely.

We also bless Your holy name, Lord Jesus, that the team has not been stagnant but bearing much fruit; thank You Lord that You are the great provider and we lift Your name high.

We thank You for the gifts You have given to each one who serves diligently – we are thankful to You for bringing us through the joys and the trials we have experienced broadcasting in church and online.

We place our full trust in You and are thankful that You are always faithful to us. We lay before You each team member and ask that You bless them. We thank You, Lord Almighty, in advance for the good things You will do in and through the tech team in the rest of this year. In Jesus’ name. Amen

5 September – Isaac Alawode. We thank You, God, for our Young Adult’s ministry – this year we have particularly focussed on how we can be more purpose driven in life. We praise Your holy name for all that You have taught us in this time, and how You have blessed, anointed and ministered through each one of them both in their work calling and ministerial calling.

We honour You, our God, in Christ all hope is found; and we are thankful for the way in which You have spoken to each one of us. We praise You and proclaim Matthew 5:16, ‘Let your light shine before men that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.’

Thank You, Lord Jesus, for Your protection over their lives and Your divine purpose – we pray that as the young adults continue to walk with You, that more will join us so the group grows in number. We proclaim the words of Romans 8:28 and thank You for the good gift of our Young Adults in Telford Elim, ‘all good and perfect gifts come from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights who doesn’t change like shifting shadows.’ Amen
