Oct 26 – The focus of this week’s prayer letter is on the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, living in His fullness, and being effective witnesses for Christ:
Thank You Father – on the day of Pentecost the Church was baptised with the Holy Spirit. Your Spirit blessed it with supernatural power as a means of turning the believers into all You called them to be. It was a baptism of power, authority and love in order to be truly effective witnesses to Christ.
Fill Telford Elim, in person and online, with Your Spirit so we can be effective witnesses to Christ. May His infilling lead to signs and wonders following the preaching and sharing of Your word. We want to glorify our Lord Jesus, and the outpouring of the Spirit in our lives is the best way to achieve that.
We give thanks and praise to You, our heavenly Father, to You Lord Jesus, and to the Holy Spirit for Your commitment to our salvation, and to enable us to fulfil the Great Commission. Lord Jesus, You are commissioning us today to go into the world making disciples, baptising and teaching them to obey all Your words, knowing that You are with us to the end of the age and will cause much good fruit to be produced thereby. Amen
Oct 27 – Father, from the Day of Pentecost the church started to grow – it was from that point Your Spirit led the church from a bible college experience of learning at Your feet, to being out worshipping, growing and serving – to being partners with You in the breakthrough of the Kingdom into the world.
Fill us afresh this day with an experiential, discernible and knowable experience of Your Spirit and His power. May the Kingdom of Darkness continue to be overcome by the Spirit at work in us. We do not wish to grieve nor quench the Spirit. Teach us how to cultivate, and keep, a full, open and sensitive relationship with the Holy Spirit. He is holy – absolutely pure. May He share His holiness with us so we carry the radiance of Heaven in our lives today. In Jesus’ name. Amen
Oct 28 – Father, being Spirit-filled is not just something to be enjoyed – Your witnesses did not just sit back and say, “I’m so glad I’m saved. I’ll just get through this horrid life by going to church, and then heaven here we come!” They were empowered for something else – to live the Higher Christian life, and be Your equipped witnesses.
Lord we pray for the salvation of the people around us in the families of those who join us in person and online. Take and mould us so we are instruments in the hands of the Spirit to bring Your Kingdom and its rule into our communities in person and online. May we be a Spirit-filled, prophetic voice bringing Your word and truth to the nations. Save, heal and make whole many through the ministries of Telford Elim in person and online. In Jesus’ name. Amen
Oct 29 – Father, they were to be witnesses to Your love for the world in Jesus. There came a divine enablement to effectively communicate the Gospel to unbelievers. This enablement was Your will for them and meant that many responded in saving faith joining the discipleship pathway.
Lord, we understand only too well the difficulties we face in our world, but we thank You that the Spirit in us is greater, more dynamic and powerful – absolutely truthful and pure than anyone or thing else in this world – He is God the Spirit.
On and after the Day of Pentecost non-believers were drawn to this joyful expression of truth desiring the same in their lives. The doorway into Your Church was through the challenge to repent of a wilful, sinful lifestyle, by the conviction of the Spirit at work in conjunction with the preaching of the Gospel, and believe in Christ to the saving of their souls. Grant us the boldness and sensitivity of the Spirit to follow in their footsteps.
Holy Spirit sanctify or set us apart so our lives bear witness to the truth and power of the Gospel. May many thousands of men, women, young adults, young people and children respond in faith and embrace the wonderful Jesus as Saviour and Lord. Anoint Telford Elim, and each church represented by those who pray with us, to make large numbers of disciple-making Christians. Fill us with Your Spirit so that we too may be Spirit-filled, joyful and effective witnesses to the Gospel. In Jesus’ name and for His glory. Amen
Oct 30 –Lord Jesus, Your saving grace changed our lives. As Your witnesses, we know how important it is to testify to that grace. A witness has experienced, seen or heard something that is vital and must be willing to speak about what he or she knows – to testify. And so, as Your witnesses, help us to share our experience of You and Your saving grace by the power and presence of Your Spirit in our lives and in Telford Elim.
We are Your servants, sons and daughters endowed with the gifts You have given for the strengthening of our church and the equipping of the saints for the work of the ministry You call us to. You transform lives as we partner with You in Your mission to the world. Fill us afresh with Your Spirit, His power, joy and love.
When You said to them, “you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you and you will be My witnesses,” You were defining what the Christian life would be all about, both then and now, seeking to be a witness to who You really are. You want us to know if we have the fullness of the Holy Spirit. Grant us a great hunger to live continually filled with the heavenly Dove’s presence, anointing, fullness, power and truth. Amen
Oct 31 –Heavenly Father, Luke 19:10, says that ‘the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.’ People accused You, Lord Jesus, of being ‘a friend of tax collectors and ‘sinners’ because You engaged, as part of Your mission, with many sinful people (Matthew 11:19, “The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Look, a glutton and a winebibber, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ But wisdom is justified by her children”).
I lay myself on the altar before You Lord Jesus – Holy Spirit help me to do so wholeheartedly and unreservedly. As Your Spirit empowered witness – equip me with that which I need to step out in faith filled with Your word and boldness. I pray that the same evidences that were clearly identifiable in the early, Jerusalem Church – will fill Telford Elim in person and online:
- A Joy-filled life is an evidence of the Spirit’s fullness
- Speaking in tongues to one another
- A new boldness to identify with You, Lord Jesus
- The power and anointing to declare publically our love for You
- Fruitful witnesses to Christ
- A people of Spirit-filled dreams and prophecies
- A people filled with a new power, understanding and strength which is not natural in origin.
We pray that all of these evidences of Spirit Baptism, we need them all, will be part of our church. Thus, we pray that many will be baptised in the Spirit through the ministry of Telford Elim online and in person. Your Spirit’s fullness is made available to those who ask for it, and persistently ask, seek and knock for it! Lord, bless the online Light and Bright Event today and may it draw many children and parents to ask questions, seek to connect with You and our church, and to ultimately become disciples who make disciples. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Nov 1 – Father, Spirit-filled witnesses care passionately about lost people and have a strong desire to see them meet Christ as Saviour. They feel compassion for the lost and seek to earnestly understand their questions and doubts. Guide us so we can provide a compelling, biblically based answer to their questions.
May Your Spirit arrange divine appointments with lost people this week so that we can share Christ, His Good News, and Your love and will with them. In Jesus’ name. Amen
