Daily Prayers 25-31 October

Daily Prayers 25-31 October

This week of prayer is based on the exhortation to build on our faith moral excellence, knowledge, self-control, patient endurance, godliness, brotherly affection and love (2 Peter 1:5-7). Seven graces that show our Christian character, and make us productive and useful in our knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ (2 Peter 1:8). The prayers are written by Sam Adjepong.

25 October. Father, we thank You that when You command us to do something, You also enable us to accomplish it. You are the one working in us for Your good pleasure until Christ is formed in us.

We surrender our lives to You again so that You can help us supplement our faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and to live in such a Christ-honouring way that we will bring glory to His wonderful name. Help us we pray in Jesus’ name. Amen

26 October. Thank You Father that You have given us everything we need to live a godly life. Enable us to supplement our faith with goodness of life; You have also given us a complete knowledge of Your will, spiritual wisdom and understanding in Your word – we thank You for the Bible.

We pray for Your Spirit’s help to walk worthy of You and Your will – fully pleasing Christ and being fruitful in every good work; we pray that You would increase our knowledge of Your will and ways – that we may know Jesus more, and worship in deeper and more life changing ways. In Jesus’ name. Amen

27 October. Lord, we recognise that with each passing day, the end of all things is near. Help us to be of sound mind every day – self-controlled and disciplined in our prayers. We need the self-control which comes from the indwelling Holy Spirit and Your life changing word so we will not be tossed about by the many temptations and enticements from within and from without from the world and Satan.

Holy Spirit, impart to us the self-control we will need, and the empowerment to live in the centre of Father’s will for today and the rest of our lives. Our Advocate and Helper, we ask for Your help to make every effort to supplement our faith with goodness, knowledge and self-control. We ask in Jesus’ name. Amen

28 October. Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You patiently endured the cross and did not grow weary but went all the way for our sake. You call us to add patient endurance to our faith because trials will come – mockery, persecution, barrenness, marital difficulties and false accusations will all call for perseverance and the resilience to keep following You.

You want us to rejoice and be glad for our reward in heaven is great when we endure any kind of suffering for Your sake. Lord, teach us to draw upon the supernatural power of the Spirt along with the wisdom and insight of Your living word. We pray that Telford Elim, online and in person, will be a church full of believers who patiently endure in life, worship, service and witness. Amen

29 October. A Godly person is above reproach, sober minded, disciplined, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, charitable, committed – this type of character and lifestyle is the result of a Christ-centred life. Lord, we pray that in person and online, Telford Elim will help develop such believers by its ministries, fellowship, service, mission and love.

Father, we pray, help us by Your Spirit to live out the character of Jesus in every area of our lives, and to live lives of holiness and godliness. Empower us with inner strengthen by Your indwelling Holy Spirit and word because these are our only hope. We pray that each one of us will live out that Christ-honouring conduct so that others will know that we are children of our heavenly Father, and many turn to Christ for salvation as a result. Amen

30 October. Lord Jesus, help us to build a strong bond of love among ourselves – caring, loving and supporting one another. We pray for a calm atmosphere of trust and friendship, and seeking the best interests of fellow believers.

Romans 12:10 tells us to ‘Love each other with genuine affection, with brotherly love. And take delight in honouring each other.’ Thank You that with man or woman this is impossible but with You all these are possible and will bring glory to Your name. That by our brotherly and sisterly kindness all will know we are Your disciples – may this witness lead many others to ask about You, Lord Jesus, Your salvation and how to live a life that pleases You.

Lord, bless the Helen Yousaf events at church today. As Helen and Jermaine minister, and many women come to hear, be ministered to and encounter You – will You do a great, deep lasting work in all of their lives. Amen

31 October. ‘In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone’ (2 Peter 1:5-7).

Love is eternal, for God is love. May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all as we seek to live Christ-centred lives, exalting Him always. May we know Christ’s love that surpasses all knowledge, so that we may be filled with all the fullness of God!

Father, bless the Light and Bright Party and outreach at church this morning. As children and their parents come – pour out Your Spirit upon them, and bless them abundantly. May it go well and be Christ-focussed and honouring. I also pray for the meal and service to honour and complete Black History Month. We pray that You will break down the racial divide in our nation, enable us to honour each other and respect each other, and for a new day of justice, righteousness and truth across our nation. In Jesus’ name. Amen
