Dec 25 – The focus of this week’s daily prayers is on using the Lord’s Prayer as a basis for our prayers during this Christmas season.
Father, we give You thanks and praise that You are the Father who gave Your Son to be the Saviour of the world. On this Christmas Day teach me about the full extent and reality of Your Fatherhood as seen in the Incarnation.
Teach me to grow and mature in my understanding of what Christmas Day means so that Your Fatherhood will be given full expression through my life, and our lives in our church, in person and online.
Thank You that heaven is also the place You have prepared for me – may my life be a canvas upon which You reveal Your Fatherhood, the hope of Christ, and our future as Your children.
As a result, may new people be won for Christ, established in Him and led into the pathways of whole-hearted devotion and discipleship. In Jesus’ name. Amen
Dec 26 – Father, hallowed be Your name. Thank You, that Your Son hallowed Your name all through His earthly life and ministry; and thus, set us a perfect example of how we are to honour the sacredness of Your name.
May Your name be hallowed in our church so that the communities around us see Your glory, and desire Your salvation and presence. There is no greater name than the name of Jesus.
We declare there is power, authority and salvation alone in His name. May Jesus’ name be lifted high by the people and ministries of our church. Amen.
Dec 27 – Father, the revelation of Your Kingdom, including its principles of right-living and power, is such a potent force – it is so powerful and different. It is spiritual light and life.
The powers of darkness that hold say in the world automatically react against Christ’s authority and truth. We think of all those authorities and institutions which seek to set up a counterfeit kingdom, fleshy in nature producing governments and societies which are anti-Christ in form, philosophy and outlook.
May the in-breaking of Your Kingdom in our land lead to the dethroning of all such counter-authorities which deny Christ and oppose Your ways.
Raise up a generation of Kingdom minded people who are wholeheartedly committed to allowing Your Kingdom to have full expression in and through their lives.
May our church be at the forefront of this advance of Your Kingdom in Telford and Shropshire, and beyond. In Jesus’ name. Amen
Dec 28 – Romans 12:1-2, NLT, ‘And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all He has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind He will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship Him.
2Don’t copy the behaviour and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.’
May Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. May our choices as individuals, and as a church, be aligned to Your will and purposes. In Jesus’ name. Amen
Dec 29 – Father, I come and bring our need for daily provision, and our finances to You. ‘Ebenezer, ‘hitherto hath the Lord helped us.’
First, I want to thank You for Your faithfulness to us over the years & how You have supplied everything we have needed (from page 224, The Biography of Hudson Taylor by F&M Howard Taylor). I ask that You would enable us to be good, biblically trained stewards in every area of our finances.
Thank You for the Holy Spirit Who is present with us as we live daily before You, and handle our financial affairs. I thank You for bringing us to this place in our lives. You have started a good work in us and will perform it until the day of Christ.
I welcome You as we prepare and order our finances and budgets that are pleasing to You, and will therefore be good for each of us.
May we be wise stewards of all that You give us, while continually looking to You for the provision of finance, people and resources we need in order to be all You call us to be each and every day. In Jesus’ name. Amen
Dec 30 – Father, teach me about mercy, grace and forgiveness.
I confess that I have sinned in thought, word and deed. I acknowledge my sin and do not seek to justify myself; rather, I trust in Your Son’s perfect, complete work of Atonement. His completed work guarantees cleansing and redemption for all who trust in Him.
Thank You that I stand complete in Him, justified by faith; and thank You also that each and every day You are working this new life out in my body, soul and spirit.
Sanctify me by Your Spirit and Word, by fellowship and prayer, by Your discipline, by testing and temptation, and by the trials of life.
You impart Jesus’ righteousness so my mind, emotions, choices and relationships reflect His will and ways. Empower me to walk in this newness of life day by day so that sin is constantly being cleansed and overcome in me by His blood.
May I show the same mercy and forgiveness to others that I have received from You. Break any strongholds of unforgiveness that may be holding anybody back in our church – set them free to forgive and to experience total forgiveness themselves as a result. In Jesus’ name. Amen
Dec 31 – Father, teach me that temptation is not sin, temptation can come from outside me as well as being planted in my mind by Satan. If I start to fantasise about doing the thing I am being tempted to do – then that is sin.
On this last day of 2023, as we prepare for the month of prayer, fasting and abstinence – may I develop further in this so that the old familiar paths that the enemy has used so many times to lead me into sin are closed off.
I pray that new paths of righteousness will be opened up and daily walked by me. I choose to submit to You, resist the devil continually and know that You will give me the victory so that my mind, body, emotions, choices and relationships are sanctified and set apart for Your worship and Christ’s service.
Thank You for Your grace and mercy in and through Christ throughout 2023. Yours is the Kingdom, the power and the glory forever and ever. In Jesus’ name. Amen
