Daily Prayers 24 – 30 May

The prayers this week are again focussed on #DoYouKnowHimTelford, and are written by Natalie Headley.

May 24 – Jesus The Word

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made. In Him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” John 1:1, 3-5 NIV

PRAYER:

Father in heaven, we thank You for the Word. We worship and praise Your holy name for Your wonderful plan of salvation in and through Christ. Thank You for sending Jesus, the Word, who was with You, Father in the beginning before the world began.

He came to earth willingly, in human flesh, so that we sinners may be saved by His precious blood. You Lord Jesus, are worthy to receive all honour and glory and praise for You are our eternal Creator and in You we have become a new creation. For You not only created us but You bought us with a price – the blood of Jesus Christ our Lord.

Thank You, Father, for the Light of Jesus shining into our hearts; as we learn more and more to trust Him alone as our Lord and Saviour. May the light of Your love shine through us all for Your praise and glory. We ask in Jesus name. AMEN.

May 24 – Jesus The Messiah, The Son of God

“Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.” John 20:29-31 NIV

PRAYER:

Father in heaven, thank You for opening many of our spiritual eyes of faith to see You Jesus, to believe in You and You alone. I pray that we will not rely on our natural senses or emotions in order to know of Your love, mercy and grace, but will trust the truth of Your Word.

Strengthen our faith in You, Father, and for those who do not know Christ – open their eyes and free them from being blinded from the Truth. Thank You for Your Word and for the truths that it contains. Thank You that our salvation does not depend on what we do but on what Christ did on the cross for us.

Thank You that the truth of the glorious gospel of Christ has been written for our learning and that by believing in Him, confessing our sins and being baptised in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, our sins are forgiven; we are accepted in the family of Christ and receive eternal life through Him. All praise to You Father. We pray in Jesus’ name. AMEN.

May 26 – Jesus The Lamb of God

“The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” John 1:29 NIV

PRAYER:

Loving heavenly Father, thank You for sending Jesus as the true Lamb of God, who came to take away all our sins. Help us, Father not to hold on to our past guilt and shame but to hold on to Your forgiveness in and through Christ. Thank You Lord Jesus for Your sacrificial death, dying for us on the Cross at Calvary and becoming the only substitute for our sins – thank You.

Through the cross – we have forgiveness and redemption. Redemption means release from that which brings into to bondage to sin, and brought into a new place of freedom in Christ. AMEN.

May 27 – Jesus The Way, and The Truth, and The Life

“Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”” John 14:5-7 NIV

PRAYER:

Loving Father, help us not to be proud but be able to come to You to ask to see clearly Your astonishing, wonderful truth in Your Word. We want to know Christ, Your only Way of salvation. Open our understanding to grasp, believe and act on these profound truths.

Continue to reveal to us, Father, all You need us to know. Christ is our life-giver – He alone is the Truth and Life. Thank you so much Father of this opportunity to know You and love You through Christ.

Lord Jesus, You are the Great I AM. AMEN.

May 28 – Jesus The Resurrection and The Life

“Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” Martha answered, “I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”” John 11:23-26 NIV

PRAYER:

Lord Jesus, thank You for the beautiful example of Martha, who trusted You in the most grievous, heartfelt of life’s situations – her brother’s death. Thank You that You are indeed the resurrection and the life, for all who trust in You.

Help us Lord to develop such a confident trust in Your Word, bold characters, strong in faith, being salt and light, reflecting You wherever we go. Even when we are surrounded by life’s greatest problems and pain; we trust in You Lord to never leave us or forsake us.

Thank You for Your love, Your grace, Your mercy. Help us to live our life by faith and not by sight – stepping out in faith every-day to serve You. AMEN.

May 29 – Jesus The Good Shepherd

““I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep…I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me— just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep. I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd.” John 10:11, 14-16 NIV

PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, thank You that Jesus is indeed the good Shepherd, and that He know those that are the sheep of His pasture. Father, we pray that as we come to know Him more and more – our eyes will be kept firmly fixed on Him.

Thank You that in Your grace Jesus came to lay down His life for us. We pray that we live our lives to Your praise and glory. Father, thank You. In Jesus’ name I ask and pray. AMEN.

May 30 – Jesus The Light Of The World

“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12 NIV

PRAYER:

Thank You, Father, for giving us the Light of life in Jesus. We confess our sin and ask for forgiveness – we will never be separated from You, as Your Word says. We pray that we always walk in Christ’s light, concentrating our gaze upon Him day by day, that we may live and move and walk and pray in a manner that is well-pleasing to You.

We know that this world is full of darkness and the deeds of man are evil. Lord, the Holy Spirit, shine through us so our light shines and the darkness disappears. Every darkness in our health, job, career, education, business, and family – let Your light shine from us and the darkness will disappear. Let Your glory rise upon us all and on all our doings today and forevermore. In Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN.
