July 22 – The focus of the following prayers is Trusting God. Over this last couple of weeks, we have been looking at God’s faithfulness, and our response to His faithfulness. In the prayers below, we will use His faithfulness as a base, and pray into how we can trust Him more.
Father, You never get it wrong – You never make mistakes. You can be totally trusted. Many attack Your faithfulness, Your trustworthiness, others are doubtful about whether You really are for them.
Many have a fear based in the idea that they may not get it right. It is tempting to believe that we will never get it right, that You will not act on our behalf because we are faithless.
On the other hand, others think that they will work it through without You. That they trust in human reasoning more than divine help.
I open my life up to Your Holy Spirit – if I have any issues in any of these areas, lead me through to a new place of trust in You.
Perhaps I struggle to trust You with the big parts of my life: family, career and self-sacrifice. If I have a lack of trust in You – forgive, cleanse and heal me.
If anything is exposed during this process that needs addressing, I commit fully to seek to address and overcome whatever surfaces. In those areas which are beyond my ability, I ask for Your grace and power to be able to conform to Christ.
Where I need the assistance of a brother or sister in Christ – open that door and connect me with the person of Your choice to help me through to a new place of abiding trust. In Jesus’ name. Amen
July 23 – Father, You never fail. Thank You for those amazing words in Hebrews 13:5-6, NLT, ‘Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never, ever fail you. I will never, ever abandon you.” So we can say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?”’
Father, You never fail. Lord Jesus, You never fail. Holy Spirit, You never fail.
I proclaim that You, the Triune God, will not abandon nor forsake me. You are my helper, protector, and my God.
I pray for breakthrough in the lives of any of my brothers or sisters, in church, who may struggle in any of these areas.
I proclaim that Jesus is everything I need for life and godliness, and is willing to help me in each area guiding and filling me with His life, hope, wisdom and discretion.
I pray for grace and insight to know how to fulfil my moral responsibility to live and serve Christ as a Christian should in these days. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
July 24 – Father, You provide. You are my Shepherd. I shall not want. You feed me with the choicest of spiritual food. Your word is life giving and soul nourishing.
Even when I am in the midst of an attack by the enemy of my soul, You will strengthen and protect.
I pray for greater understanding in how to apply these biblical and theological truths to every part of my life so that Your shepherding care is central in my response to all that happens in life.
Bless our church, in person and online, also with everything it needs to fulfil the ministry You call us to do in the power of your Holy Spirit: finance, people, resources, and good, godly leadership. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
July 25 – Father, You are never overdrawn, overwhelmed nor overcome. No matter how often people come to You and draw upon Your resources of grace in prayer – Your resources are not depleted.
Even if lots of people come to You with great need, their problems, difficulties and challenges are not too much for You to deal with.
When the enemy comes in force against Your Son, Word and Church, You are never defeated nor overcome; instead, You are the Victorious One who reigns in glory.
We proclaim that You are invincible while also being incredibly compassionate and merciful to those facing the onslaught of the demonic, evil and malignant.
I proclaim these words from Philippians 4, ‘Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. 19And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from His glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus’ (4:6-7, 19, NLT).
Holy Spirit, enable us all in Telford Elim to fully understand how to apply these wonderful biblical words. So that we choose not to worry about anything, are always thankful, and thus experience Your abiding peace reigning in our hearts and minds, knowing that You are supplying all that is needed for our needs in Christ Jesus. In Jesus’ name and for His glory. Amen.
July 26 – Father, You are never caught off guard, never caught off balance. You are never taken by surprise by what happens, including to Your children.
I acknowledge that I am blind-sided at times, taken unaware, and sometimes unprepared for the battles that arise. Instead of rising to the challenge in faith, I confess that there have been times in my life when I have withdrawn into self-pity, anger, and sometimes, unbelief.
I proclaim that You are omniscient – You know everything possessing infinite awareness, understanding and insight; You are panoptic – You see all including every aspect of every person, thing and situation, nothing is hidden to You.
As a result, I submit to Christ’s lordship and rule. Holy Spirit, I humble myself and seek His lordship to reign in every area of my life, worship and service. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
July 27 – Father, You are never tired, never irritable. When our energy levels dip, or when exhausted, we make mistakes, can become confused and are likely to encounter problems which can appear insurmountable. This never happens to You,
Lord. You never slumber nor sleep. You are always 100% alert. I can come to You at any time of the day or night, and know that You will be fully alert and present.
Satan is a liar, fraud and murderer. You are true, to be trust completely, and the life giver.
I take up Your armour relying on Your Holy Spirit and word, and will rise up and not lie in defeat.
If there is an area where I, or our church, do not yet rely completely on You, not wholeheartedly devoted to Christ – reveal this and enable me and our church to be sanctified, and thus fit for Your worship and service each and every day.
Bring me, and our church into Christ’s victory. In Jesus’ name and for His glory. Amen.
July 28 – Father, Your grace is always sufficient in Christ.
2 Corinthians 12:9-10, NLT, ‘Each time He said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.’
Lord, these words are so wonderful. I know that Your grace is not automatically made available to me. I have to come in faith, daily, and ask You for the grace I will need for this day.
Thank You that Your blood deals with any of the failures or baggage of yesterday. I commit my tomorrow to You in faith trusting in Your faithfulness and love.
I ask for the grace I need this day, this hour and for this minute.
I choose the pathway of devotion and faith which will release the full potential of all the gifts, capacities and understanding You have deposited within me.
Sanctify my capacities, gifts: natural and spiritual, time, and desires so that I am wholly devoted to Christ, fit for His service. In Jesus’ name and for His glory. Amen.
July 29 – Revelation 12:11, CSB,
‘They conquered him [the accuser of the brothers and sisters – Satan] by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; for they did not love their lives to the point of death.’
Father, we can put it this way, ‘they did not love their lower ‘self’ life more than Jesus and the fuller spiritual life to which He was calling them.’
You are calling us to the fuller spiritual life. Holy Spirit, enable us to so abide in Christ, to be so filled with You and Your power, with Your powerful word, that we step up into the fuller spiritual life to which You call us. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
July 30 – The following may be of help as we think of stepping up into the fuller spiritual life:
• Pray – if you are married and your spouse is a Christian, pray also with them about the situation, if applicable. If it is confidential and then should not know about it – share that you need prayer covering – but keep confidentiality.
We can pray effectively into a situation without having to know any of the details.
• Seek the Lord’s face, His presence, His guidance and His peace;
• His word, is there a verse that the Holy Spirit brings to mind that is the Sword of the Spirit for this situation or setting?
Father, we bring our marriages, homes, friendship circles and fellowship to You. Guide us in how to pray together, anoint us so we pray in the Holy Spirit as we seek to move into the fuller spiritual life.
May Christ be formed in each one of us. Anoint our church so that our ministries equip and enable each one of us to move higher in You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
July 31 – Father, as we continue to pray into our response to your faithfulness, and Your call to the fuller spiritual life – thank You for Hudson Taylor.
Taylor could testify to his hunger for abiding more completely in Christ, of stepping into the exchanged life whereby the life of Christ was manifest in his own life.
Taylor’s phrase, ‘Depend upon it, GOD’S work done in GOD’S way will never lack GOD’S supplies,’ is still one that has inspired generations of believers to follow Your call trusting in Your provision.
We seek the Holy Spirit’s fullness. His power, authority and boldness to do Your work in Your way. Your Spirit changes situations, but will never do that for us to which You call us to do on Christ’s behalf.
You expect us to do that which Jesus calls us to do, but not on our own. Empower us to step out confident in Your faithfulness and provision. As we step out, we can gain the ground, and then prove You as Lord over it as it is held in the day of testing.
May this be the experience of Telford Elim, in person and online. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Aug 1 – Father, as think about stepping into the fuller spiritual life, of gaining ground in Christ, of living in Your Spirit’s fullness, we acknowledge that this makes the enemy of our souls angry.
So we plead the merits and protection of the blood of Jesus over our lives, those in close relationship with us, are responsible for, and everything that is ours.
There is power in and protection under the blood of Jesus in the spiritual battle. Train and equip us how to live in this place of protection on an ongoing basis. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Aug 2 – Father, as we continue to think about the fuller spiritual life, of responding well to Your faithfulness, teach us how to apply faith in every given situation. Without faith it is impossible to please You (Hebrews 11:6).
When we come to You in faith, believing that You exist and are everything You say that you are, and reward those who sincerely seek You, life begins to change and we move more into the fuller spiritual life.
As we humble ourselves before You, seeking Your grace, strength, anointing and protection, You reward us. How You reward is Your sovereign choice, but we know that You do because this is what Your word declares.
To think that You choose to reward Your people when they come in faith and sincerely seek You, is remarkable.
We seek Your face for Your Kingdom to come and Your will to be done in and through Telford Elim, in person and online. We ask for a growing church, and an expanding Christ-honouring impact on the communities around us as we proclaim and live out the principles of Christ. Amen.
Aug 3 – Father, we are so thankful that You are our God. In Christ, You have made us one with yourself, and Holy Spirit.
We thank You for all You have done and are doing for us as a church, and for the people in it. We thank You that You are for us in Christ. We honour and magnify You in Jesus’ name.
In all You call us to do, in worship, fellowship, ministry and witness, we are putting our trust and confidence in Christ.
We pray for many breakthroughs in each of our lives so we step into the fuller spiritual life, that we live the exchanged life with Christ’s life manifest in and through us.
In Kids Extravaganza, in Limitless youth, in Thrive young adults, in Worship, in Tech, in Telford Elim Women and Men, in the Serve team, in Mission and Evangelism, in the Online presence, in Administration, in Leadership, in Safeguarding, in the Small Groups, in Finance, in the Cleaning team, Coffee Connect, in the Prayer meetings and ministry, in PRISM, in TAARC, in every ministry and influence of the church we pray for growth, expansion and godly development.
May Your Kingdom come and Your will be done. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Aug 4 – Ephesians 1:3, 7-8; 2:4-7, CSB,
‘1:3Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavens in Christ.’
‘7In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace 8that he richly poured out on us with all wisdom and understanding.’
‘2:4But God, who is rich in mercy, because of his great love that he had for us, 5made us alive with Christ even though we were dead in trespasses. You are saved by grace! 6He also raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavens in Christ Jesus, 7so that in the coming ages he might display the immeasurable riches of his grace through his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.’
Father, You have blessed us with every spiritual blessing in Christ. We ask for a fuller knowledge and experience of these spiritual blessings in our day by day lives. We have been forgiven in Christ according to the riches of Your grace, thank You.
As we think about spiritual renewal and the battle within – Jesus’ blood and our recognition of it and its power are important. So is standing on the truth that You desire to display the riches of Your grace in and through Christ in our lives and church.
We acknowledge and thank You for the Holy Spirit’s desire to empower and lead us into this fuller spiritual life. May we all be empowered and step into this life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Aug 5 – Father, as we move forward in seeking for the fuller spiritual life, the importance of Your armour is crucial in the battle with the forces of darkness in the heavenlies and on this earth.
Your armour is trustworthy and sufficient and as we seek to step into the more You have for us in Christ. We trust that the armour You give to protect will do so:
Ephesians 6:10-18, CSB,
‘10 Finally, be strengthened by the Lord and by his vast strength. 11 Put on the full armour of God so that you can stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this darkness, against evil, spiritual forces in the heavens.
13 For this reason take up the full armour of God, so that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having prepared everything, to take your stand. 14 Stand, therefore, with truth like a belt around your waist, righteousness like armour on your chest, 15 and your feet sandaled with readiness for the gospel of peace.
16 In every situation take up the shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit—which is the word of God. 18 Pray at all times in the Spirit with every prayer and request, and stay alert with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints.’
Holy Spirit, guide us in and help us to apply these Scriptures and the principles for spiritual advancement contained in them.
We invite You into the battle and affirm Christ as our captain in this battle. We hand over all control to Jesus, including the control of any response we may meet in the situation. We remind ourselves of Your past support and victories in and through our lives.
Be glorified, Lord Jesus. Amen.
Aug 6 – Romans 8:2 – ‘It is the principle of the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus that sets us free from the law or principle of sin and death.’
What is the principle of sin and death?
It is a force or compulsion at work within drawing people to sin.
Father, in the fleshy person outside of Christ – this force works with their nature; in the Christian, this works against their new nature in Christ. Sin always leads to death, especially spiritual death or decay.
As we have been praying in response to Your faithfulness, and for stepping into the fuller spiritual life, we acknowledge the impact of sin on this desire.
Our new nature is founded on the principle or power of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus. The power of the Holy Spirit at work within is able to free us from the attack and power of the power of sin and death. The Holy Spirit is more powerful than sin. Hallelujah!
We claim the Holy Spirit’s powerful impact on our lives so we live each and every day in principle of the power of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus. Amen.
