The focus of this week’s prayers is on Mission and Evangelism, and supporting one another as we seek to reach the lost with the Good News about Jesus the Saviour.
June 17 – Father, help us to fulfil the command to love one another – to love our neighbour just like we love ourselves (Matthew 22:39, CSB, ‘The second is like it: Love your neighbour as yourself’).
We recognise we need to be filled with Your Spirit and Your love in order to be able to do both of these things. Many cannot truly love others as You call us to do because we cannot love, nor even sometimes even like ourselves.
Therefore, loving others enough to tell them of their need for Jesus the Saviour is hard because we do not love them as You love them. You so loved the world that You gave Your only begotten Son so that everyone who believes in Him will be saved.
Thank you that You are willing to lead us by the hand into that place of loving ourselves, and others, to be able to tell them of their need to repent and turn to Jesus as their Saviour.
As You teach us about the enormity of Your love for us in Christ, may that then lead us to love others enough to tell them about Jesus the Saviour. In Jesus’ name. Amen
June 18 – Father, we pray for those in our church who are struggling with relationship issues. We ask for breakthroughs and healing where necessary.
May our relationships with loved ones, family, school mates and fellow students, work colleagues, bosses and employees, friends, neighbours and acquaintances, and others in our church not be based in dependency, control, co-dependency or disregard, but in the inner strength and security we find in Jesus.
As we teach and model this way of living in relationship with You through Christ and Your Spirit, may You anoint us by Your Holy Spirit to do so well and fruitfully to the glory of Jesus’ name. Amen.
June 19 – Father, Your word is full of examples of Your servants serving one another in love, something Paul commands us to do in Galatians 5:13. CSB, ‘For you were called to be free, brothers and sisters; only don’t use this freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but serve one another through love.’
The biblical freedom You call us to is to be able to live for Jesus as You would have us to do. It is a freedom that enables our service to be Spirit-led and anointed, to be fruitful and Christ-honouring.
Also, we are told to ‘bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ’ (Galatians 6:2). Forgive us for those times when we have been conceited and self-centred, concerned only with ourselves and ours.
We look to You and wish to catch the same desire that is in Your heart for others that they may accept Your Son and His salvation, and help them in their life-journey also. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
June 20 – Father, we pray for those who have been hurt in church – left feeling abandoned, ostracised or not liked. We know, Lord, that Your word talks about the church as the Family of God. Thank You for this term, ‘the Family of God.’
Help us to be an inclusive Christ-honouring family – not an exclusive one which excludes people from Your presence and love.
Grant us the keys which will open the doors into the prodigal’s hearts, those who have walked away from Christ, from His church, fellowship and communion one with another.
We pray for a great ingathering of people saved in Christ through the anointed preaching, Spirit-empowered witness, and love-filled people and ministries of Telford Elim. In Jesus’ name. Amen
June 21 – Father, I ask that You will speak to me this day about who I can support, how best to do this, and for wisdom so that I do not end up carrying a burden which You want me to hand over to You.
We pray as we begin, this Sunday, our partnership with the Elim Evangelism department and Mark Greenwood, its Director – for an outpouring of Your powerful Holy Spirit on every person in church, in person and online.
We ask that this be a fruitful, well-aligned and presence-led partnership which leads to many being born again, and many raised up to go out into Your harvest field – a field which is golden unto harvest. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
June 22 – Father, guide us as a church in how to love, and support when appropriate, people in the wider community. Grant us not only insight, but also the anointing and endurance to do so in such a way that we will glorify the Lord Jesus as we do so.
We ask for many divine appointments, and many Spirit-anointed moments during which the Good News about Jesus the Saviour is shared by word, example and life.
We return to Your command to love our neighbour – we pray for our neighbours here in Telford and Shropshire, and those who engage with us online. We ask for their salvation, redemption, sanctification and equipping to become disciple-makers themselves.
May we love them with the love You pour into us, a love that never runs dry. Thank You! In Jesus’ name. Amen.
June 23 – Father, Your word talks about pure religion including supporting and visiting the poor, the widows, fatherless, and the foreigner. May we always recognise the importance of these groups when we think about loving our neighbour.
We ask that You will provide and help us to allocate the ministry and resources You want us to invest and focus on reaching them with the Good News about Jesus the Saviour.
Bless Mark Greenwood as he comes, preaches and engages with us today in church. We ask for Your anointing and blessing on this partnership in the Gospel. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
