Daily Prayers 16-22 August

This week’s prayers are written by Steve Higgins, and are focussed on praying for strength and courage.

16 Aug – O Lord Jesus, fill us with Your light and hope. Please give us strength when we are weak, love when we feel forsaken, courage when we are afraid, wisdom when we feel foolish, comfort when we are alone, hope when we feel rejected, and peace when we are in turmoil.

In Your name we come to You for You are our strength and shield; we pray that You would continue to guide us through the storms of life. Help us to walk in Your victory bringing glory to Your name. Amen

17 Aug – Father God, we thank You that Christ is our strength and shield. When storms rage around us we can always run to You, in Jesus’ name finding rest in Your presence. In turbulent times, in trials and temptations, in weakness or in fear, in and through Christ, You are able to sustain us.

Help us to act with courage as we face difficult times in our lives; may we always seek to stand firm in our faith not being drawn into the ways of this world. We chose to look to You, Lord Jesus, seeking to walk in the power of the Spirit and guided by Your word to enable us to be overcomers and live our lives walking in the victory of the cross. Amen

18 Aug – Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your promise to be with us wherever we go. When tempted to doubt and fear, help us to remember that You are always with us by Your Spirit.

In the light of this promise, may we choose to be strong and courageous no matter what circumstances we find ourselves in – that we would be encouraged to seek Your presence as we pray, give thanks and praise, worship, read Your word and share fellowship with each other whether in person or online. We stand on the promise that Jesus never leaves nor forsakes us. In Jesus’ name. Amen

19 Aug – Lord, help us to live with faith – we know that as we read Your word, it increases our faith; may it not be said that our faith is too small. As we look to You and fill our lives with Your word – grant us revelation of Your infinite power, Your infinite glory, greatness and majesty. In Christ, no weapon or enemy can overcome us.

Keep us, Oh Lord, from trusting in our own power but help us to trust in Your power. We thank You for the gift of Your Holy Spirit that enables us to look beyond our own abilities and to walk in Your power and strength. Very often we are limited in our thinking so teach us how to remember that You are the God who is able to equip us to achieve excellence in all that we do according to Your will. Amen

20 Aug – Lord we thank You for the power of Your word and Your presence in our lives. We thank You that no weapon formed against us will prosper, for greater are You in us, than he who is in the world.

We pray that you will cast down every threat and accusation, every abusive word or attack that may come against use. We stand and proclaim the name of Jesus over our weaknesses in order that we may stand in the victory of the cross and proclaim that nothing is impossible for you – Hallelujah! In Jesus’ name. Amen

21 Aug – Father, thank You that You are loving and gracious, full of mercy and might. You are our strong defender a strong tower, our refuge and strength. Thank You that You fight for us today so that we may stand firm in the knowledge that You are more than able to see us through the storms of life.

The battle belongs to You – under the blood of Jesus it enables us to be more than conquerors in all areas of our lives. Empower and train us not to fall into sin but to prosper in all we do bringing glory to Jesus’ name. Amen

22 Aug – Father, we thank You that You care for us today, tomorrow and every day. Help us to put aside all anxious thoughts and imaginations remembering that You are the source of unfailing strength.

We look to Jesus who is the author and protector of our faith and who intercedes on our behalf; may we continue to trust in Your unfailing love which passes all understanding – guard our hearts and minds so that we may bring glory to Your name. May we continue to run the race and receive the prize prepared for us in heaven.

‘Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes before you. He will not leave you nor forsake you’ (Deuteronomy 31:6; Isaiah 40:31). In Jesus’ name. Amen
