The theme for January 2026 is ‘Reaching Out.’ These prayers are written as a guide to help people think of ways that we can pray into reaching out with the Gospel, being missional and intentional in seeking to reach people for Christ, and with the message and grace of Christ.
Our prayer is that the Holy Spirit will help us all to be creative and innovative in doing so, so that many are reached, many drawn closer to Christ, and many saved, baptised becoming disciples who then make disciples.
Day 1 – Pastor Leslie
In Acts 2, the newly Spirit-filled, Pentecostal Church was enabled and empowered by the Spirit turning them into Kingdom minded and orientated people. They became transformational missionaries reaching out to their families and communities. The Acts 2 church was filled with people devoted to prayer, praise, thanksgiving, preaching, giving, serving in Christ-honouring ways, and reaching out with the Good News about Jesus.
Holy Spirit, You are Lord, and You desire to empower us afresh for mission and evangelism – to open doors of opportunity – to provide what is needed as we step out in faith. Bless our partnership in the Gospel between Telford Elim and Riversway Elim.
For a church to thrive in its vision and mission – it needs clarity of purpose. What is it we want to achieve? I believe You are calling each person to follow Jesus, to do good, and be good news to those around them.
That our church, in both its locations, would be made up of believers who are known as a people who love God, love Jesus, love one another, and love the communities You have placed us in. That our church would live out its mandate of being a body, bride, army and family! That the life of the Spirit and Word will be present. Christ’s church growing and flourishing, bringing much glory to God. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Day 2 – Adeola Allinson, Church Elder, Reaching Out in Faith
As we seek to fulfil our calling as a church, we turn to our Father and God, humbly coming before Him in prayer and supplication. Our desire is to be empowered and inspired to reach those who have yet to experience the love and grace of Jesus Christ, both within our immediate communities, and across the world.
Prayer for Guidance and Innovation – We ask, Lord, that You would grant Your church wisdom and fresh ideas. May You bestow upon us insights and innovative approaches to connect with those who are unchurched, whether they are nearby or in distant lands. Help us to discern the best ways to share Your message of salvation in Jesus in a manner that resonates with every individual we encounter.
Seeking Spiritual Insight – Lord Jesus, we pray that You would open the eyes of our spirits. Enable us to perceive the needs, struggles, and opportunities around us. Grant us clarity and understanding so that every action we take in sharing Your message is guided by Your Spirit and tailored to the unique circumstances of those we serve.
Empowering Bold Outreach – Father, we ask for boldness and divine empowerment for Your church. Equip us to preach the gospel fearlessly, reaching out to souls both near and far. Instil in us the courage to step beyond our comfort zones, trusting that You will guide our steps and use us to make a meaningful impact for Your kingdom (Acts 4:29-31) In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Day 3 – Adeola Allinson, Church Elder
Reaching out – Praying for provision and an increase in trust. King of glory, our Jehovah Jireh, our provider, Your word in Matthew 28:19-20, NIV, ‘19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’
Heavenly Father, as You have commanded us to go forth and share Your Gospel message, making disciples, we come before You recognising our absolute dependence on Your provision. As we step out in obedience, reaching out to those who have yet to know Your love, we lift our need for the resources and support required to fulfil Your mandate.
Lord, we believe and trust that You will meet us at every point of our need. Strengthen our faith so that we may continue to rely on Your divine provision, confident that You will supply everything necessary for ministry. Grant us unwavering trust in Your support as we seek to faithfully obey Your command, knowing that You are always with us, guiding and sustaining us in every endeavour. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Day 4 – Steve Higgins, Church Elder.
Father, we thank You for the grace You have freely given us, and for Your never ending love that we experience in our daily lives. Fill our hearts with compassion for those who don’t yet know You. Help us to see people through the eyes of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Many people we meet in our daily lives are living lives that are broken, many other people are searching, in need of Your grace in their lives. As we live our lives, we pray that You would empower us by Your Holy Spirit to love unconditionally, and to serve You with humility so that our words and actions would reflect Your mercy in those we meet, so they would be drawn to You by our words and actions.
Acts 1:8, NKJV, says, ‘but you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you shall be my witnesses.’
Holy Spirit, we surrender to Your guidance and ask that You lead us to divine appointments at the right time, giving us the wisdom and the boldness to share the gospel. We are not able to break down barriers and touch people’s lives in our own strength, but by the power of the Holy Spirit, we can do all things through Christ who is our strength. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Day 5 – Steve Higgins, Church Elder.
Father God, when we think about doing outreach, fear can very often distract us from stepping out in faith. Allowing this fear to determine our outlook means that the faith needed so Your Holy Spirit can guide us into a place of assurance, does not arise within.
Father, we pray that You would take away any fear or hesitation in our hearts, fill us with the love of Christ which drives out fear. Give us courage to speak of Your goodness in Jesus wherever we are. Help us remember that we are never alone and that You are able to give us wisdom and strength to be Your witnesses.
Father, help us to remember that You are able to open doors in people’s lives, allowing us to share the gospel, and lead people, whose hearts have been softened, to a place of redemption. Let Your love break through the hardness of sin and unbelief, making a way for Your word to lead to salvation, forgiveness and a new life in Christ. Amen.
Day 6 – Himat Khetia – Telford Deacon.
Dear Lord, Your Word says in Mathew 9 37-38, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few,’ and You instructed to ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest.
Surely Lord now is the time for harvest, and we need You to be our commander. Lord, we need Your guidance as we reach out to others with Your Gospel. We need Your courage to initiate conversations and share Your love.
We ask for Your wisdom granting us the right words to say. May Your Spirit guide us, and open hearts as we reach out. May those whom we reach out be receptive to Your truth and experience Your saving word and love in Jesus.
Use us as vessels for Your grace and peace, and that we may build bridges and reflect Your love to the needy, and to those who are lost and have not been able to taste Your love.
Help us to use kind words, and give us understanding and wisdom to navigate different situations and relationships. I trust You that You will answer this prayer, and bring glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Day 7 – Natalie Headley, Telford Deacon.
Heavenly Father, as we pray into our call to reach out, stir our hearts, Lord, with Your compassion so that we see people as You see them: loved, valued, and in need of Your saving grace.
Lead us, Lord, by Your grace as we step out in our community to reach people, including the children, youths and young adults. Lord, stir our hearts to reach out with intention, understanding, being missional in every place You send us.
Your Word reminds us that how can they believe in the One of whom they have not heard, and how can they hear without someone being sent (Romans 10:14–15). So Lord, open our eyes to new and innovative ways to share the Gospel, so that our homes, communities, workplaces and churches become lights that draw many to Christ.
You have placed unique giftings, skills and callings within each of us, help us to use these gifts to serve, to teach, to mentor and to shine Your light also in places where lives are searching for hope and direction. Show us how to meet them where they are: in schools, streets, online spaces, youth hubs and homes. Give us creativity and Spirit-led wisdom to connect with them in meaningful ways, so that Your love is seen and Your Gospel is heard.
Empower us by Your Spirit, Lord, to speak boldly, serve humbly, and love unconditionally. May barriers be removed, opportunities be opened, and lives be transformed. May our reaching out draw many to salvation—saved, baptised and growing as disciples who live for Your glory. As we declare Your truth, may it be said of us: ‘We will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, His power and the wonders He has done’ (Psalm 78:4, Our Daily Bread Ministries).
Use us, Lord, as Your hands and feet. As we reach out, let Your kingdom reach in and change hearts. In Christ Jesus’ name. Amen.
Day 8 – Pastor Sandie
Scripture: ‘Therefore welcome one another, just as Christ also welcomed you, to the glory of God’ (Romans 15:7, CSB).
Lord Jesus, You welcomed us when we were far away – You drew us into Your family. We ask that Riversway Elim and Telford Elim churches would be places of open doors and open hearts. Let our words, actions, and presence show Your kindness to our neighbours surrounding the churches, those who may feel overlooked or forgotten.
Give us courage to step outside our walls, to listen well, and to serve with humility. May every smile, every invitation, and every act of care reflect Your love.
Teach us to see people not as strangers but as men, women and young people greatly loved by You. Let our communities know that Your grace is real, alive, and available to them today. Amen.
Day 9 – Pastor Sandie
Scripture: ‘Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth’ (1 John 3:18, NIV).
Father God, You call us to love not just in theory but in practice. We pray that both churches would be known for compassion that moves beyond just words. Open our eyes to see the need within our communities. The physical, emotional, and spiritual need, and may we learn to respond with generosity.
May our communities see that faith is not distant but deeply connected to everyday life. Empower our volunteers, church families and leaders to serve with joy, not obligation. Let our actions point to the truth of Your gospel, showing that Jesus is alive in us. May loving kindness flow outward, transforming homes, streets, and hearts. All for Your glory, Lord Jesus. Amen.
Day 10 – Pastor Sandie
Scripture: “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden” (Matthew 5:14, NIV).
Lord Jesus, You have placed Riversway Elim and Telford Elim in their communities for a purpose. We ask that Your light would shine through us in ways that cannot be ignored. In conversations in the Wednesday and Thursday cafes, in Happitots and the connect groups, in our services, and in moments of need, let Your presence support and guide us.
May our gatherings be not rooted in past tradition, but rather be full of life, hope and power where, Holy Spirit, You have free reign to change people’s lives and move among us according to Your will. Teach us to live so authentically that our communities see Christ in all we seek to do.
We pray both Riversway Elim and Telford Elim will be like a bright street light, guiding people toward You. May every missional outreach produce eternal fruit for You, Lord, drawing hearts into Your kingdom. Amen.
Day 11 – Barbara Thomas, Telford Serve Team and Event’s Ministry.
Colossians 4:5–6, NIV, ‘Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.’
Matthew 5:16, NIV, ‘Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.’
Heavenly Father, we thank You for calling us to serve and to reach out to others with Your love. We pray that You will inspire every volunteer with creativity, innovation, and boldness, that we may find new and meaningful ways to share the gospel.
Help us to serve with humility, joy, and compassion, reflecting Christ in every task, conversation, and interaction. Use every smile, every act of service, and every word spoken to draw people closer to You.
Open the hearts of those we meet through our Event and Serve ministries in 2026, and let Your presence be felt in every space we create. Guide our ideas, plans and actions, giving us wisdom to make the most of every opportunity.
May our service draw people closer to Jesus, leading many to salvation, baptism, and growth as disciples. Unite us in purpose, empower us to step beyond our comfort zones, and let our light shine brightly, transforming lives and expanding your Kingdom. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
Day 12 – Sharlom Chaitika, Elim Missions
2 Timothy 1:6–8. Father God, we thank You for Your Word, which reminds us to fan into flame the gift You have placed within us. Thank You for the Spirit You have given us, not a spirit of fear, but of power, love and self-discipline.
Lord, help us to be bold in stepping out to reach those who are lost. Remove fear from our hearts and help us to use the gifts, testimonies and strength You have given us to share the gospel. Teach us not to hide what You have entrusted to us, but to grow and strengthen our gifts through faithful use.
We thank You that no one is overlooked by You. Every person matters, every gift has purpose, and each of us has a role to play in Your Kingdom. By Your power, help us to serve those around us, in our communities and beyond.
We lift up Eswatini, especially our twin church in Lushikishini, Pastor Phumzile, Pastor Hani Shadad, and all the missional work connected to them both. We ask that Your hand would be upon them for good, and that You would guide and protect all those serving faithfully.
Bless these relationships and show us how to be a positive influence in the lives of believers and the children we serve. May everything we do bring glory to You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Day 13 – Keshnee Barclay, Telford Finance Officer.
Father God, as we enter this month of prayer, fasting and abstinence, awaken in us a heart that reaches out. Stir within us a holy longing to share Your Gospel with boldness, compassion and joy. Open our eyes to the people around us who are searching for hope, and give us the courage to step toward them with Your message of grace.
Help us to be intentional, seeking opportunities and not waiting for them. Teach us to be creative and innovative in how we share Your love, so that barriers are broken, hearts are softened, and lives are transformed. May Your Spirit guide our conversations, our actions, and our decisions.
Lord, let many be drawn closer to You through our obedience. May many be saved, baptised, and grow as true disciples of Christ. Use us as Your hands and feet, reaching out to a world in need. Grant us all the resources, including finance, needed to fulfil Your call for ministry, and to reach out. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Day 14 – Karen Early, Riversway Food Share.
Isaiah 58:7, NLT, ‘Share your food with the hungry, and give shelter to the homeless. Give clothes to those who need them, and do not hide from relatives who need your help.’
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of the Food Share ministry, a living expression of Your love for the poor and vulnerable. What a privilege it is to serve and support those in need, reflecting the compassion of Jesus in practical ways. Lord, teach us to show love and kindness not only through what we give, but through the warmth of our words and the sincerity of our actions.
We are grateful for the blessings You have poured into our lives—our daily bread, our families, our community, and the hope we have in Jesus. May our gratitude overflow into generosity, so that others may taste and see Your goodness.
Help us to be faithful witnesses of Your love, both in our community and within our homes. Help us to model Jesus’ compassion to our children, that they may grow in faith and kindness too. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Day 15 – Lisa Till, Riversway Happitots.
Proverbs 3:5-6 – Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for all the babies, toddlers, parents and carers that we welcome at Riversway each week.
We want to show Your love to these families. Please guide us in our conversations as we speak about our faith, what Jesus means to us, the difference You have made in our lives.
We praise You, Lord, for this valuable ministry enabling us to shine Your light into this community. May all who come feel it to be a safe place, to feel loved and to come to know Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.
Bless the leaders and volunteers, equip and guide them by your Holy Spirit. We thank You, Lord Jesus, that You came to seek and save the lost, give us the desire to follow in Your footsteps as we welcome one and all. In Your precious name we pray. Amen.
Day 16 – Liz Manley, Telford and Riversway Administrator.
Father, what a blessing it is that we are such a mix of people, with many different characters and attributes. We are uniquely created by You.
An interview on a Christian Radio Station the other day, where a woman, (now working in Christian ministry), spoke about a story that her parents told her when she was 5 years old, of an act of kindness which turned out to be an answer to prayer. It had such an impact on her that it started off her Christian journey. Isn’t that amazing!
The Jews were great story tellers and passed down from generation to generation their history and traditions. May we be, “Good News” story tellers and pass on the wonderful answers to prayers and acts of kindnesses that people have received. For we are the “aroma of Christ to God” as Paul says in 2 Corinthians 2:15.
Father, may we be an inspiration to those around us through our words, thoughts and deeds. In Jesus’ Holy name. Amen.
