May 1 – The following prayers are focussed on the Coronation of King Charles.

We give thanks to the one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, for His presence among His people in our nation, for each other, and for every opportunity to pray, worship and witness for Christ together in our nation.

May You be pleased to save King Charles, and fill him with Your Spirit and Word so he can effectively pray, worship in Spirit and truth, and witness for Christ.

We also pray for Telford Elim Women as they meet together today that you will bless Adeola Allinson as she leads the ministry, all involved, and everyone who comes to today’s first event. May it be edifying, encouraging and disciple-making. In Jesus’ name. Amen

May 2 – Father, we celebrate the opportunities that the Coronation will give our nation to build relationships with each other. May many truly connect in the love of Christ in a deepening partnership, in the Spirit, so that up and down the countryside, towns and cities, people will reflect Your truth, character, personality and call to the world around us.

Enable many to share the Gospel, as well as through the symbolism and sacred nature of the Coronation itself, in such a way so that many are confronted by Christ’s truth, and led to a decision about whether they will accept or reject the Message of hope in Christ.

Be among us as we seek to reverence You during this time, and to obey Your Word to pray for our King and all in authority. May Jesus be lifted high, highly honoured and esteemed, and worshipped as Lord and Saviour because of this Coronation, and all the celebrations national and local that are part of the weekend. In His Hallowed name – Messiah and Lord. Amen

May 3 – Father, thank You for the unique history and ethos/culture of our nation, a nation rooted in the Bible in times past. We recognise that we share many similar responsibilities, joys, problems and hopes with those who previously were a part of our nation in previous decades and centuries.

We have much to receive from an understanding of Church history in our nation – help us to properly comprehend it. As we consider who we, as the UK Church, are today, help us to celebrate the rich diversity of our backgrounds and experiences.

As we look forward to the reign of King Charles, may the past inspire us to pray for a new Christ-focussed reformation of our nation, strive to make disciples who then are able make many more new disciples in this new era, and see Your Kingdom come and Your will be done in the UK. In Jesus’ name and for His glory. Amen

May 4 – Father, as we think of the Church in the UK, and in the 14 Commonwealth nations King Charles will reign over – we affirm the following marks of a disciple-making church:

a praying community;

a people proclaiming the Good News of the Kingdom by word and life;

teaching, baptising and nurturing new believers;

teaching and modelling discipleship;

creating disciples who make disciples;

responding to human need by loving service;

seeking to transform our communities for Christ; exposing the unjust structures of society and work for Your righteousness and truth to be established in these;

striving to defend the right of Christians to comment on topical issues and actually present a Christian response to these;

safeguarding the integrity of biblical Creation;

recognising our responsibilities to be good managers of our environment leading to the sustaining and renewing of the life of the earth in Christ.

We ask that these hallmarks will come even more the fore in the Churches across the nations over which King Charles reigns. In Jesus’ name. Amen

May 5 – Father, we publicly commit ourselves, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, to pray for our King, the Queen Consort, Camila, the Royal Family, all their counsellors and advisors, and our government.

As we meet regularly together to pray, proclaim the Good News of the Gospel, continue to deepen and develop our common life in Christ, and reach out in Your mission to the world – we ask for the Spirit’s wisdom, guidance and anointing to do so in accordance to Your leading, will and purposes.

Our King has been prophetic for many years speaking out about guarding and sustaining the environment, educating and giving hope to the young, and about the importance of community engagement.

We bring these issues to You and pray for grace, breakthrough, and good things to happen in each area that honours Christ, draws people to Your principles for life and godliness through Christ, and transforms the lives of many in Christ.

As we pray together about the issues and concerns of the 21st century in order to discern the mind of Christ in these – equip us to pray, minister and speak under Your anointing.

As we pray, we ask that the Gospel which promotes justice and biblical peace will be clearly presented to many. We pray for the grace needed for the common good of our Church, communities, Borough, County, King and nation. In Jesus’ name. Amen

May 6 – Father, as the Coronation takes place today we pray for the grace needed for all involved, we pray for strength and wisdom for the King and all involved, and we pray for safety and security in the procession, at Westminster Abbey, and in all the events to celebrate the occasion.

We also pray for the UK Church – that it will grow and flourish as we all meet together regularly to further Your aims. Foster an increase in Co-operation, Commitment and Companionship between us as Christians so that in our own local situation, from Sunday to Saturday, we may be ministers of reconciliation in Christ.

As we work together in matters of strategic planning – as we seek for Your Kingdom to come and Your will to be done in our nation – may the King’s reign be one during which He readily acknowledges You as his King of kings and Lord of lords.

May he be pastorally sensitive to the needs of all his people in his nations and dominions. In Jesus’ name. Amen

May 7 – ‘Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all people will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another’ (John 13:34-35, NIV).

Father, as we pray Christ’s prayer for unity so that we may be one, even as You and Your beloved Son are one to the glory of the one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, may the world know that we are Your disciples.

We pray that the UK Church will support and encourage each other in seeking to win the UK for Christ, which shall be a sign of our commitment to one another under You, our Creator, Redeemer and Sustainer.

Bless our church’s special ‘celebrating our king’ morning service, and coronation meal today. May it be a time rich with Your grace, presence and love, a time of joy, and Kingdom growth, a time when Christ is honoured, proclaimed and glorified, and people see we are one in Christ. Amen
