The prayers this week are again those written for our September month of prayer and fasting. For the first two days are written by Simon Mason from Hadley Methodist Church, and focus on the partnership between Telford Elim and Hadley Methodists. From the 22nd, we are focussed on praying about evangelism, and reaching and winning the lost.
20 September – Captain Simon Mason. Hadley Methodist Church Partnership. Psalm 133:1-3, ‘How wonderful, how beautiful, when brothers and sisters get along! It’s like costly anointing oil flowing down head and beard, …. Yes, that’s where GOD commands the blessing, ordains eternal life.’
Father, thank You for the shared focus on the work of Your Kingdom that is at the heart of the partnership between Hadley Methodist (HMC) and Telford Elim (TE). Thank You for the support the partnership has received from the wider Methodist and National Elim church.
We pray as the partnership continues to develop that we will ‘stand together with one spirit and one purpose, fighting together for the faith, which is the Good News.’
We pray that we will ‘agree wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose.’ And we pray that we will stand our ground for biblical values when so much is shifting both within and outside the church. Father, bless this partnership. In Jesus’ name. Amen
21 September – Captain Simon Mason. Father, thank You for joint commitments within the TE/HMC partnership: to children, young people, and families; to the local community; and to the development of missional small groups. We pray for:
(1) The team that will oversee partnership activities: for wisdom and discernment;
(2) The redevelopment of HMC’s building to make it fit-for purpose as a centre of mission and the training of disciple-makers;
(3) For Family Time, and 1st Hadley Boys Brigade and Girls Association as they reopen and reconnect with each other; may they be fruitful in bringing people to know Jesus and grow in faith.
And we pray too for Sarah Jane Rigby who was at the heart of the partnership over many years. As she starts her new role in Romford as Deacon in the Methodist church there – we pray for protection for her and her family; for the building of new Kingdom relationships; and that she settles quickly into her new life, home and ministry leading to a very fruitful, Christ-honouring ministry. In Jesus’ name. Amen
22 September – Pastor Alisha. Today we come before You, Lord Jesus; we ask for wisdom, direction, and discernment in reaching out to those who do not yet know You.
Father show us how to be a body of believers who are moved in love, who are moved with compassion, teach us, equip us. There is a God shaped hole in the life of every person, which can never be filled by anyone or anything other than You, Lord Jesus.
We know that people need You, Lord, and we know that You love every single person; so, we ask Your Spirit to minister to our hearts, show us what to do, what to say. Direct our steps, go before us.
I pray for an increase of Your presence in Telford, for a spike in a curiosity about who this Jesus is as we live, witness and minister in and though the ministries of Telford Elim, online and in person. Have You, Father, filling this town and region with Your saving grace. In Jesus’ name. Amen
23 September – Pastor Alisha. Father, today I pray that You break our hearts for what breaks Yours. I pray that as we begin to reach out to the younger generation, we are mindful that we are ambassadors of the Kingdom.
Help us to live a life that is worthy of the calling, worthy of the gospel. Help us to shine Christ’s light so bright that the younger generation find authenticity, acceptance, love, grace, forgiveness, peace, consistency, hope and rest, in the presence of the one true living God.
I pray that we do not just talk about You, Jesus, but, we also represent You so well that the younger generation want to know what it is that we carry. I pray for an out-breaking of Your saving grace, Father, I pray for an overflow of Your Holy Spirit, I pray that the Next Gens of this time and age to become like flocks of sheep, pursuing, chasing, and following You, Jesus. Amen
24 September – Natalie Headley. Glory be to You Father; we honour and adore You and believe in Your Word which teaches us to seek and to save the lost – only through Christ and for His glory.
Lord Jesus, help us to obey Your Word as it says in The Great Commission to ‘go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything You have commanded us. And surely You will be with us always, to the very end of the age.’ Thank you, Lord Jesus, that You have given us the tools to carry out Your work.
You said also that we should ask for help and we will indeed be blessed – You said the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field…so we ask You Father for more workers for Your harvest fields here in Telford.
Bless us every day with God instances and appointments, opportunities to witness to those who You have called to Christ, and to many who need to turn to Him. We pray for boldness in all these situations and especially when we face adversities and opposition. In Jesus’ name. Amen
25 September – Natalie Headley. Father, our God Almighty, invigorate our zeal for witnessing for Christ, reaching and winning the lost, and to see new believers in Your church.
Father, You made the heavens and the earth and the sea, and everything in them; now, Lord Jesus, enable us, Your servants, to speak Your word with great boldness. Just as the early church were Your disciples all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.
Lord Jesus, we also pray for opportunities to share Your message, just like the apostle Paul asked for others to pray on his behalf in Colossians 4:2-4, ‘Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains.’
Open doors, Father, bless us with the joy of seeing people become new Christians – let us be a part of Your success in seeing many come to know You, Jesus, as their Lord and Saviour. Holy Spirit, only You alone can do the spiritual work needed to raise up many with a desire for mission, to open doors, and to become bold witnesses. Guide, protect and uphold us. In Jesus’ name. Amen
26 September – Sam Adjepong. Lord Jesus, we thank You that You did not leave us as orphans but You sent Your Holy Spirit who came to convict the world of sin and of righteousness and of judgment. The Holy Spirit who came to anoint us with Your power. Your promise to us is that as we go, You will be with us always even to the end of the age.
In our outreach to reach the lost – we declare that You will empower us with boldness, and the authority to speak the right words – this anointing will banish any apathy, fear and doubt.
Lord, may there be signs following those who believe as they go with boldness and daring faith. We pray that each one of us, by our lifestyles and testimonies, will challenge the lost to come and see. Brake any fallow ground so there will be times of refreshing for all who will seek You, Lord Jesus. As You have done it before – we pray, do it again Father. In Jesus’ name. Amen
