Jan 11 – The daily prayers are taken from the church’s month of Prayer and Fasting booklet – focussed this week on Telford Elim’s Next Generation ministry: Awaken Youth, Young People, and Young Adults

Awaken Youth Prayer – Samuel Foentjies

Pray that as we begin a New Year, that God will take the young people and leaders on an exciting journey of discovery. May God reveal Himself in a new and fresh way to the young people, and that young lives and hearts will be changed and impacted for Christ’s glory, shared their faith with others.

Pray that the youth will have their hearts and minds prepared for what God is going to do this year as they grow and develop further in their walk with Christ. Pray the youth and the leadership have fun as we discover and share God and life together. In Jesus’ name. Amen

Jan 12 – New Young Leaders – Samuel Foentjies

Pray as we progress through this New Year, that God will stir hearts and ‘fan into flame’ the gifting and calling in some of the young people to step up and become new emerging leaders.

Pray that God will bless us with vibrant and passionate emerging leaders, who want to define their generation.

Pray for the current leaders to model maturity in Christ, humility and servant-heartedness in leadership, and be willing to develop and disciple young emerging leaders. 10

Pray that as a youth leadership team, God will give us the wisdom to recognise and appoint the right emerging young leaders at the right and appropriate time. In Jesus’ name and for His glory. Amen.

Jan 13 – School’s Ministry – Alisha Foentjies

Lord, we lift up the school’s ministry to You. Thank You for the works You have done this far through this ministry. Father, I pray that You will prepare the way ahead of me, that You prepare the hearts of the young people.

I pray for a special relationship to be formed between the schools and myself. I also pray, Father, that in 2021, a fantastic team is formed for this ministry. Continue to have Your way within this ministry, Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen

Jan 14 – Outreach to Young People – Alisha Foentjies

Father, You know each and every single young person in Telford, and we know You love each and every one of them through Christ. Lord, I pray that in 2021 as we as a church family extend our reach with the good news to the young people of Telford – that young people who don’t know You will be impacted by the church this year, and that some will be saved.

Prepare us, Father, prepare our hearts, and minds for these young people, and take us on a journey this year, reaching out to the younger generation for Christ seeking to making many disciples. Amen

Jan 15 – A Prayer for the Youth – Natalie Headley

Almighty God, Lord Jesus, You are our wonderful Counsellor, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace – we love You and thank You for Your unconditional love.

Father, we look to You to bless our young people and youth ministry. You said, ‘remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, ‘I find no pleasure in them’ (Ecclesiastes 12.1). Guide and protect our young people as they walk in step with Your Word and Spirit. Bless them with zeal and vigour for the Scriptures so that Your word is a lamp for their feet, and a light on their path (Psalm 119:105).

Lord Jesus, we pray that we will continue to pray fervently for our young people – for those who do not know You as their Lord and Saviour – that they will receive You into their hearts as Lord and Saviour of their lives.

For the youth who know You, Lord, but have decided to take another path – we pray for a spiritual awakening. That they will return to You their Saviour who loves them and is there to welcome them back with open arms just like the Prodigal Son.

Lord, for the young people who are in a daily walk with You – we pray that they will imprint on their hearts 1 Timothy 4:12, ‘Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.’

Father, keep, guide, protect them and bless them every day with a renewing by Your Spirit and word. We look to You, Father, for vision, wisdom and strength in leading Your young people, those whom You have entrusted to us, according to Your will and Your way so that the plans and purposes You have for their lives will be fulfilled. In Jesus’ name. Amen

1 Timothy 4:12, ‘Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.’

Lord Jesus, we thank You for our young people; thank You that they see You through different eyes but understand that You are the way, the truth, and the light – the only way to the Father.

Lord, enable our young people to stand bold in Your love, live life for You, and enable them to testify to how great Your love is. In Your mighty name. Amen

Jan 17 – Awaken Youth – Isaac Alawode

We pray for You, Lord Jesus, to be the strength for all the youth in 2021; that they may trust in You as they grow and develop in their current stage of education. Empower the young people that know You, Lord, to be examples so other young people to be drawn to You.

Lord, as the world continues to change we ask for You to go before youth leaders as they adapt in delivering youth work, strengthen their faith in You as we proclaim the words of Matthew 5:16, ‘In the same way let your light shine before men, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.’ Amen
