Oct 19 – The focus of this week’s prayer letter is on the Breath of Heaven – the spiritual oxygen that the Spirit gives.
Father, we take time to pray about living in the refreshing air of the Spirit – in the life giving power and grace He supplies. At the very heart of Your Kingdom purposes in Your Church is the ministry and presence of Your Spirit. When Jesus ascended back to heaven, after His resurrection, He poured out Your promise on Your people – the Holy Spirit.
On the day of Pentecost, from heaven came the sound of a rushing mighty wind which shook the building where the 120 Church leaders and believers were praying. Your Spirit, the divine Spirit, came with all the freshness, power and authority of His nature.
May Your Spirit revitalise Your Church in the UK, pouring in more grace and power so Your Church rises and glorifies Christ through its life and ministry. We pray that more may come more under the authority and Lordship of Christ because of Your Spirit’s outpouring. His coming brings new energy and passion to Your people. We ask that You would send Him also to create the same energy and passion in Telford Elim, and in each church represented by those praying with us, for Jesus and His Kingdom purposes. Amen
Oct 20 – Father, the 120 on the Day of Pentecost went from a place of seclusion, closed in the Upper Room, out onto the streets in the full view of the people in the city of Jerusalem. They were filled with joy, praise, boldness, power, authority and new words. The Breath from Heaven blew away the stale air of fear, and removed the cloak of separation which had locked the church away from the people of Jerusalem. The coming of the Spirit enabled the believers to step into their mission to reach the world with the Gospel of Christ.
We pray that we may be filled with the same joy, boldness, power, heavenly praise, authority, and ability to share the life transforming message of the Gospel. Lord, we need the same Breath of Heaven today – fill Telford Elim, in person and online, with it. Create a deep hunger for the overflowing fullness of Your Spirit in our hearts, Lord; may His fullness overflow from each one of us leading to a great ingathering of souls – of men, women, young people and children – into the Kingdom.
As we reach out in faith with the Gospel, filled with Your Spirit, grant that there will be signs and wonders following the preaching and teaching of Your word. Holy Spirit, fill us so that we live without fear and are able to remove the cloak of separation which stops us witnessing for Christ before the world. May Your Kingdom purposes be fulfilled in me. In Jesus’ name. Amen
Oct 21 – Father, grant us the grace to ask for the same Spirit fullness that those early believers experienced. O God, send Your same Holy Spirit and fill me to overflowing with Your Divine Ruach – the Breath of Heaven.
Thank You that the usual OT word for Your Spirit is ruach, ‘wind or breath,’ carries the idea of moving air, but it also can convey the idea of the breath of speech – Your spoken words flowing out to people through the Church. Your word reveals Your the purity and wonder of Your nature, of Your innovative means of establishing Your Kingdom – through salvation in Christ through the ministry of Your Spirit, word and Your people. You are our Creator leading us in pathways of victory and fulfilment through Christ.
As we pray today, we know the answer to the world’s problems is not a better politician, political party or form of government. Politicians come and go, political parties rise and fall, democracy is only ever as good as those making the policies and laws that underpin it – ultimately, the answer is Your Church filled with Your Spirit. Even the pandemic cannot be overcome by politicians – we pray for great breakthroughs leading to the overcoming of Covid-19.
The Breath of Heaven is focussed on Your mission to the world – Your mission in Christ. We pray that the obstacles, weights and sins which limit the Spirit’s willingness to engage fully through us – will be repented off, removed and overcome so that in godliness, sincerity and truth we will be about the Master’s business. It is Your Spirit who creates born again believers – may we be able to partner with You, Lord, in Your mission.
Your mission includes making disciple makers who live with a new godly nature, develop a holy disposition, filled with Your innovation and creativity, and establishing Your Kingdom and its righteous, peaceful and compassionate reign across our nation. May Telford Elim be at the heart of Your mission seeing much good fruit from its involvement bringing much glory to Christ. Amen
Oct 22 – Father, Ruach is also a name which highlights that, although Your Spirit’s presence is invisible to the human eye, His presence can be felt and experienced. When Your presence is among Your people, just like a breeze which cannot be seen but surely felt in its effects – a tree swaying in the breeze – Your presence moves us and affects Your people.
The Holy Spirit is an invisible, eternal, all powerful being; He also possesses all the hallmarks of personality: intelligence, emotion, speech, teacher and rationality. He is also the Lord, and a worker of miracles among and through Your people. May Your Spirit move and empower me, and Telford Elim in person and online, indeed every church represented, in accordance to Your will to be effective witnesses unto Christ.
As a result of His fullness – may we also portray His intelligence and holiness in how we live, reflect His emotional tenderness in our interactions with others, filled with His inspired speech proclaiming Your Gospel, and able to teach others Your truth. May we live in loving submission reverencing His Lordship; and in faith creating the atmosphere where His miracle working power is released in and through Telford Elim, in person and online, so Jesus is proclaimed and revealed in all His saving power and grace. Amen
Oct 23 – Father, thank You for the way Isaiah inseparably linked the ministries of the Spirit and that of the future Messiah, 61:1, ‘The Spirit [Holy Spirit] of the Sovereign Lord [Father God] is upon Me [the Christ/Messiah], for the Lord has anointed Me [Messiah] to bring good news to the meek. He has sent Me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed.’
It was not a new thing for Your Spirit to be deeply involved in Your saving purposes in and through Your people; in fact, Your Spirit had been integral to the past deliverance and sustenance of Israel (63:7-14).
Lord, grant us revelation of the close affinity between Your Son and Your Spirit in Your saving mission to the world. Grant us divine impartation of Your Spirit’s breath of life, and His anointing so that we can preach, live out and demonstrate the saving and keeping power Your Son’s Gospel. You have commissioned us to take to the people of Hadley & Leegomery, Telford, Shropshire, the West Midlands, and to the world, the Gospel of Christ in Your Spirit’s power. We ask for an abundance of good, lasting fruit from this ongoing mission so the Lord Jesus is reverenced, loved, submitted to, and worshipped and glorified. In His mighty name. Amen
Oct 24 – Lyrics for Mighty Wind by Andraé Crouch, www.musixmatch.com/lyrics/Andraé-Crouch/Mighty-Wind
Like the rushing of a mighty wind come and fill our hearts again. Just like the rushing of a mighty wind, let it overflow Let it overflow Let it overflow Let it overflow.
Like a river that has overflowed, like a river that has overflowed – come and fill our hearts once more. Like a river that has overflowed – let it overflow Let it overflow Let it overflow Let it overflow
Let the people come from miles around, and join us from around the world as You send Your Spirit down to revive Telford Elim. Come like the rushing of a mighty wind and in Telford Elim: let His life-giving breath overflow – Let His Creative, regenerating power overflow – Let His presence overflow – Let His love overflow – Let His fellowship overflow – Let His joy overflow – Let His conviction of sin overflow – Let His glorifying of Jesus overflow. Amen
Oct 25 – Planetshakers Lyrics, ‘Come Right Now.’ www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/planetshakers/comerightnow.html
Nothing excites us like Jesus ‘Cause in His presence there’s freedom. All of our sin is forgiven – so we give to Him the highest praise.
It’s the greatest feeling when You fill this place. In this moment You are moving as we give You praise. Come right now Holy Spirit – Release Your power. Lord we are hungry for more of You. Heaven’s open, You’re bursting through filling this place like a rushing wind. Come and move again – like a fire within we will burn, burn, burn, burn, burn, burn, burn, burn -We will burn
To everybody that’s hurting, here comes the sound of rejoicing – our happiness; He’s restoring so we give to Him the highest praise.
Father, in every area of our church, and of every church represented, we pray for the Jesus to be glorified as we worship, serve and live out our faith. In His great name. Amen
